i am sorry to hear that. I saw him wrestle at Gardner and he looked in pain on his foot. We will be praying for it to heal up.

Thanks for the list Will, Just interesting that former 5a schools are toward the top at 4a -
Not sure why or even if it matters.

It matters because everybody always cries about how hard it is to make it to state in 4a and that the 5a and 6a school have it made.

The five largest 4a schools are:
Pittsburg 717 (ranked 3rd) Bonner Springs 709 (ranked 6th) Maize South 697 (not ranked) Lenexa-St. James Academy 689 (ranked 5th) McPherson 683 (ranked 2nd)
all but Maize South are ranked in the top 6 in 4a.

It means that some years, schools have good wrestling teams, and are ranked, and some years, schools have bad wrestling teams, and are not ranked. If you have a good wrestling team, no matter the class, you are going to be competitive in your respective class. Any of the ranked teams will be pretty competitive in any class, most of the time.

I think he might be saying that the only good teams in 5A just went to 4A, which makes 5A even weaker. =)

I'm a little confused on why Wilson from RH isn't ranked at 126, he holds a record of 16-2. With his only two losses to Watters from Ark City and Mendenhall of Condcordia. He also defeated Trevor Kennedy of Garden City handily. No disrespect intended, but I think he deserves some recognition.

I saw this about Wilson: 12/3 - He missed El Dorado 12/10 - He missed Douglas He then won a tournament against a 16-13 guy in the final. He beat Melcher in the final the next week 5-3. At Derby he beat Kennedy on the front side 6-4 (Is that handily?). Then he injury defaulted to Kennedy on the back side. He lost to Mendenhall 13-0 and to Watters 16-0. Does he have criteria over anybody in that 126 ranking?

Thanks for the clarification, no disrespect intended but i was also curious on how you could rank Mies over Perez at 113 when Perez beat Mies in the finals last year 12-0? Thanks for the feedback. We'll see how the bracket goes at Rose Hill this week when Kretzer, Wilson, Umsheid, Mendenhall, and Watters are all in the same bracket, it's going to be a good one.

Pittsburg 5th in 5a last year and McPherson 15th. I know some things change in a year some stronger and some weaker. 5a and 4a going to be strong regardless. Not knocking other classes just speaking on 4a and 5a.

Mies beat Perez in the finals of the Pratt Tourney in early December. I believe the score was 7-2.

I can't say that I have seen him wrestle, but the trees that he has chopped down while clearing a path to the State finals has been impressive.
