Alex Bontz of Andover Central HS will be wrestling next season at the Air Force Academy. Alex has had an outstanding high school wrestling and academic career. I asked Lindon Bontz to provide me some details on his wrestling and academic accomplishments. Alex has had a great high school wrestling career that ended this weekend with a State Championship in 5A 152. Below is a more detailed look at Alex's wrestling and high school achievements. Hi Vince,
Alex attends Andover Central High School. He has been ranked #1 in class 5A as well as #1 in All-class the last two seasonsHe placed 3rd in both his freshman and sophomore seasons and 1st his junior and senior seasons. This year he was 39 and 1 with the one defeat coming to an out of state wrestler. He has not lost to a Kansas wrestler since his sophomore year as he went undefeated his junior season. His over all high school record is 156–6 with 88 pins. Alex is a 2X Brute National Champ as freshman and soph., and earned All-American status at Virgina Beach junior nationals last year placing 8th.
His cumlative GPA his currently 3.889.
Alex Bontz, Congratulations on all your wrestling and academic accomplishments in high school. Good luck next year with your wrestling and academics at the Air Force Academy.

I know. . . I know . . . this is WRESTLING forum. But, the main thread is about a wrestler. I am curious as to what position Conner plays in football. Anybody know? Thanks.

Auggie Schmidt of Bluestem HS will be wrestling next year at Benedictine College. Auggie recently placed 6th in the 321A 195 2012 State tournament. The below was posted earlier in the year on the Benedictine College wrestling website. http://ravenathletics.benedictine.edu/pr...restling-season"Auggie" is a two-sport stand out in both football and wrestling at Bluestem High School and is coached by Kyle Madden and Kelly Benton.
He was a 2011 KSHSAA State Qualifier with a 37-12 record and Coach Wainwright is projecting him to wrestle at 197 pounds for the Ravens .
“Auggie is an all-around great individual," said Coach Wainwright. "His success so far is an example of his great character. I look forward for him to bring the same to the Benedictine Wrestling program.” Auggie Schmidt, congratulations on your high school athletic career. Good luck next year with your academics and wrestling at Benedictine College.

Dylan Schumacher of Thomas More Prep-Marian HS will be wrestling next year for the University of Wyoming. Here is a link to the announcement of his signing last Fall from the Wyoming athletics website. http://www.wyomingathletics.com/sports/m-wrestl/spec-rel/111811aac.htmlNov. 18, 2011
LARAMIE, Wyo. ...Wyoming coach Mark Branch and his staff announced the signing of five student-athletes for the fall of 2012.....
Dylan Schumacher, Hays, Kan. (Thomas More Prep-Marian) - 133 pounds Schumacher carries a 4.0 grade-point average as a student, and has just three losses in entire prep career. He is a three-time Kansas state champion, seeking a fourth-straight title. Schumacher also was a National High School Coaches Association All-America honoree. He is a multi-sport athlete, also.
"Schumacher is one of those hidden-gem kids, from a small Kansas school," Branch said. "He was a multi-sport athlete, so he didn't get that national (wrestling) exposure, but he's tough as nails. He was a real find for us just because when you play other sports, you don't get the exposure at the national level. He's dominated the Kansas state high school championships the last three years." Now we could change the three years to four years, as Dylan Schumaker is now one of the few Four Time Kansas State Champions. In 2012 Dylan was 1st Place-321A 126. Dylan Schumacher,Congratulations on all of your high school academic, wrestling and other sports accomplishments. Good luck next year with your academics and wrestling at the University of Wyoming.

Tommy Williams of St. Thomas Aquinas HS is planning on attending and golfing next year at the University of Northern Iowa.
Tommy was a freshman teammate of my son Jacob during his senior year of high school in 2008-2009. It is very difficult for me to believe Tommy is already a senior. He had a stellar career at Aquinas finishing as a 3 time state placer with a career record of 150-29. The 150 career wins is an all time win record at St. Thomas Aquinas HS.
As a freshman in 2009, Tommy placed 6th at 5A 103 with a 38-12 record, he was a State Qualifier as a sophomore in 2010 at 5A 112 with a 36-5 record. In 2011 as a junior Tommy finished 3rd at State 5A 125 with a 35-5 record and this year as a Senior he had his best year with a 2nd place State 5A 138 finish and a 41-4 record.
Tommy Williams also participates on the St. Thomas Aquinas golf team and helped lead the St. Thomas Aquinas golf team to the 2011 5A team golf title with a 74 score good for 10th place individual finish that day.
Tommy Williams, congratulations on your high school wrestling and golf accomplishments. Good luck next year with your academics and golfing at the University of Iowa.
