Thank you to all the coaches that helped out this weekend and made it fun for the boys. What a great team experience.

Glad to hear that Alan is doing better. We were worried.

This was an awesome experience for my son. Can't wait to come back next year.

We had a great time and was extremely proud of all the teams. There was a ton of action everywhere you looked. Nate, said that he had a good time and enjoyed how the teams pulled together and cheered each other on. He wanted to thank the coaches for working with him and keeping everyone on track.

Nate Fowler had a good weekend. 7 first period pins and 1 second period pin for an 8-0 weekend. Super proud of him and we hope to able to go again next year when he is an 8th grader.

The Middle School Duals were awesome this year. I just wanted to thank James Cook for organizing this for all the young men that got to go. There are many more people behind the scenes also that made it happen and thanks to you too. Coaching the Marines along with Johnny Moses, Carlos Prieto and Travis Phippen was a great experience. We were able to get to know these super tough wrestlers and it will be fun watching them during their high school careers. All four teams had a great time and many memories and friends were made this weekend. Thanks to all!!

This was my 4th year helping with this event and coaching Team Kansas, I've always enjoyed and enjoy seeing the boys move into High School and watching them succeed! Congrats to all the boys that competed, I felt you represented our State and the Military Services, whose names we competed under, very well!

The results from the Kansas Air Force are listed below. It was a pleasure to have a front row seat while these young men competed. This tournament really tests wrestlers, it is tough to comeback after tough matches-especially losses, and do it again and again, ready or not. I witnessed a lot of gut checks, and this will make all of Team Kansas better. Thank you wrestlers (ALL OF TEAM KANSAS) for representing your state so well, not only on the mat, but off the mat as well. I had two coaches from another state and a referee tell me that they “have a lot of respect for Kansas wrestling, etc. etc.” Gotta love hearing that! Also it was great meeting and working with the other coaches, great bunch of guys.
I don’t have the team scores in front of me, I will try and update later:
Air Force won big over Lake Catholic Gray (Ohio); Lost by 2 to Missouri Tigers; Lost pretty bad to Montana grizzlies; won big over South Dakota aau; won big over North Dakota Stripes; won very close over Colorado Blue; won very close over South Dakota Blue team; lost by 7 to Ohio Vengence in the finals of the bronze bracket. 4 duels that were tight!!! In the semi’s verses South Dakota blue, our mat was surrounded by people watching as it was back and forth, we were ahead by 2 coming down to Jacob Green sealing the deal with the big win, two very active heavy weights getting after it, fun stuff!!
75 Holden Butler 5-3
80 Bryce Erickson 5-3
85 Brock Budke 4-4
90 Tyler Price 6-2 (6 pins)
95 Case Pemberton 5-3
100 Gary Joint 5-3
105 Cale Rogers/Conner Rychlec (Cale was injured after 3rd match, tried to comeback , Conner gave great effort, real close twice, 0-8 combined at this weight)
110 Macoy Rains 2-6
115 Daniel Butler 2-6
120 Tanner Brown 7-1
125 Chase Prester 5-3
130 Alec Castillo 6-2
135 Carter Wessling 5-3

Be somewhat skeptical of the records on the links. For example we ended up moving kids around on some of the Kansas teams and they are not reflected correctly on the results link. They have some of the kids wrestling with the wrong team and the wrong records to go along with them.

** Looked at online results and they wrong in several areas. We kept a scorebook for each dual and each match result. Thanks to Coach Casteel!

Great Group of young men that were very coachable and developed into a real team over the 2 days!! They were proud to be "KANSAS STRONG!" I also had a chance to work with Shawn Budke and Corey Casteel as coaches. Two great guys to coach with over the two days and 170+ matches we had in 8 duals! It was an honor to work with coaches that have the Character & Integrity to develop young men into Champions on the Mat & in Life!! We also had a great group of parents that were constantly helping and supporting not only their wrestlers, but all the Kansas Army wrestlers. They kept score, timed, were towel tappers, were getting water and nutrition for the guys, and much more. Thank you parents for making this great trip possible for your kids!! It will pay dividends for years to come!

Finally, thanks to James Cook for organizing this event!! Many, many hours involved!! We greatly appreciated the Niswonger Family, Dwight Lister and the other Parents that helped organized breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout both days!! Also, to the drivers, room supervisors, table workers, coaches, and many more that helped in everyway possible!! It was a proud weekend to be with Team Kansas!!

Proud to be Kansas Strong - The Team #4 Army Breakout for each dual!
