KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KANSAS CITY — The Stillwater Pioneers finished with two individual champions and Kaid Brock suffered his first loss in the 132-pound finals en route to a second-place team finish at the Kansas City Stampede.

Joe Smith won the 152-pound weight class and Chandler Rogers won the 170-pound weight class. Smith won the first round match by forfeit and won the quarterfinals by decision 4-3. In the last two rounds, Smith dominated as he won by fall in the semis and posted a 16-6 major decision victory in the finals.

Rogers won his first four matches by fall with his quickest coming in the first round at 45 seconds. In the finals, Rogers defeated Edmond North’s Lance Dixon by major decision 13-5.

Brock held a 54-bout win streak that started last season before falling in the finals. In the first round, Brock won by fall in the second period. In the quarterfinals, Brock won by decision and advanced to the finals with a major decision victory against Perry’s Blake Avery. William Erneste got the best of Brock in the finals with a 12-6 decision.

Other top finishers for Stillwater was Jordan Dieringer with a fifth-place finish in the 182-pound weight class. Jacob Fontanez finished sixth in the 120-pound weight class. Tristan Moran finished seventh in the 138-pound weight class. Benny Teegarden (126) and Andrew Nieman (113) finished eighth and ninth, respectively.

Perry finished sixth in the tournament and didn’t have an individual champion.
