Thought we could look at entries prior to Saturday? Can't find any open sites to view correct weight or anything.

Your wrestler will have to beat all the wrestlers in his bracket that were not beat by another wrestler to get to the top of the podium. The identity of the other wrestlers does not change this. :] laugh

I will say first and foremost it does not matter who is in your bracket. With that said it is fun to see who is in your bracket, but I'm not sure knowing a week in advance is too terribly important.

I know there are lots of parents out there that love the competition and want to see tough brackets. I remember alot of dad's got together one year and had a super-bracket. 1st and 2nd place match was a rematch of State finals the year before, 3rd and 4th was a rematch of the State finals the year before, and 5th and 6th was a rematch of the State finals the year before. Six State Finalists were in the medal matches, an Awesome bracket. BUT, this is not the norm. There are alot more parents that want to run from competition and will say their kid was entered incorrectly and want to change weights. HUGE HEADACHE for Tournamnet Directors.

I understand both sides, but as I have heard a good friend say many times. "It is what it is."

trackwrestling is great - but good lord - "SOSO" wrestler is in the 1 millionth percent - bla bla bla - parents and kids do not need that info to get in their own mind or the kids mind leading up to a tournament. To much information - they all have to tie their shoes the same. Some use the double knot method.

I don't see a need to release brackets, but at least put the entrants. Almost every major tournament will release entrants. Tulsa, Liberty, USA National Events. As far as brackets go, as a team director it is nice so that we can avoid having kids on the same side of the bracket. Releasing these ahead of time will reduce this, and yes it has happened and I have had tourney directors say, I wish we could have changed this earlier, but then they have to rush to change it. Or the case in which only 1 kid is in a bracket, he might not want to travel, pay for a hotel and waste time for nobody to wrestle. If the big tournaments aren't afraid to release information why should any tournament be afraid to, just stick to your guns about people not changing weights if it is that big of a problem.

Jesus am I really the only person who enjoys knowing my sons gonna have a tough bracket this weekend. Don't care about the brackets I like to see entries. Don't care about stats we know who's who... But go ahead and pretend it's not better knowing who's gonna be there... Then I could prepare to watch other weights and kids I enjoy to watch wrestle. Kids we've watched grow.up etc... Jack wagons... everything to do with entries isn't always people looking to dodge competition

I don't think anyone want to dodge competition, although I may be giving too much credit to some parents. That said; everyone knows that this is a tough tournament and the kids will have to wrestle the rears off to get on the podium. The issue remains that they've always released participants in the past and even stated so on the forum. Not a big deal but it would be nice to see who's there. I agree with hotrodder54. It's a long day and I want to watch other kids that we've seen grow up and battled in the past.

At the end of the day you have to wrestle whoever is in front of you and Salina always puts on a great tournament with State like competition.

But it is the exception and not the rule.

Guess what we did back in the day of on site weigh in's, enter the week before and no ability to look any wrestlers up.

We showed up and wrestled who was in our bracket.

For the wrestlers that hasn't changed, but the parents now have a breakdown if they can't do their "research" prior to the event.

Tournaments like Salina everyone should know to bring their A game no matter who is in their bracket or how many.

I also understanding the Matrix release to judge whether to go or not, but for the middle of the weight (not light end and not heavy end) there is a good bet on a tournament this size you won't have to search for a full bracket.

So you are planning the day out on Saturday to watch kids you know or wrestled before, I get that do they not put wall bracket up?

I understand that releasing them early causes trouble for tournament directors, and maybe that is why they change their standpoint on releasing them.

There are alot more dodgers out there than anyone wants to admit, just the way it is.

The Dodgers outnumber those looking for competition 20-1.

With all this said...Salina did have the entries up last week on Saturday on trackwrestling for a few hours. The wrestler list was removed once registration was closed. Good luck to all tomorrow...except the ones wrestling my son.

Poor spexy just wants to see who's where and what cause he moved to bigboy show. And I believe people just take this entirely to seriously... My point was simply " before trackwresting I picture tournament director typing for hours to make a spreadsheet to show entries and almost always posting them for public knowledge out of the kindness of their hearts" and now they could click a button and voila you have entries.... Seems backwards lol

Dang the Dodgers!

I like the "old times" when you could see what Talent Crop you were going to deal with. The situation of the entries should only be to assure they are correct which was suppose to be shown on Friday @ 7 last week.

Our choice instead of dealing with the "Food Police" & not knowing the venue pricing of healthy food choices is being able to enjoy an evening & a day watching OSU vs. M.U. Tigers, meeting Chris Perry, & having a good morning work-out with the Stillwater Youth Club & catching a Cowboys Wrestling practice.
Be Safe Everyone & Good Luck to Everyone!!!!!

I guess I don't understand the constant bashing on this forum and complaining about parents and kids being dodgers. Who really cares, if a coach or parent deems it best for their child or athlete to move up or down in weight to make sure they have the most success possible than so be it. If a parent or coach wants their kid to go up against the biggest and best wrestlers on a weekly basis then so be it. That is their choice. Wrestling only survives as a sport if you have every kid possible involved. There is strength in numbers. The more kids that wrestle in this state and the more parents who keep their kids involved the better. The more kids you have wrestling and keep wrestling is how this state will become a great wrestling state. Even those kids who don't continue to compete, we need them and their parents leaving with only great things to say about this sport. Do whatever it takes to keep kids involved. This sport isn't just for kids who have state championship aspirations or National placement aspirations, and everything shouldn't be catered to those that do. Its the oldest and greatest sport there is, and it is for everyone. Those kids and parents who have those big aspirations will do what ever it takes to make those things happen anyway. The will travel to the big tournaments no matter where they are they will get extra training where and when ever they can. It is a good thing to have as many kids as possible have success, because then they want to stay involved. People with the attitude "only the strong survive" are the ones who kill the sport all around the country. It takes special people to fall in love with the sport of wrestling, we need to embrace as many people who haven't yet and pull them in. From what I have seen around the state we have a great group of youth coaches mentoring athletes throughout the state. Lets stop worrying about who jumps to which bracket it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of making this a great wrestling state. Keeping as many kids involved is the key. Not to mention how many people go to the tournament of champions wanting to dodge someone? Every bracket you go in is going to be the best of the best so what difference does it make for anyone to see who is in. If you jump brackets you are just jumping into another tough bracket. Everyone that goes to that tourney does so to get great matches. Don't they?

Good for you Ricki! Your day sounds much more fun, impact full and insightful for Brett that any kids tournament could provide wish I could tag along with my kids with you.
