No, coach Prieto, you're not out. Just asking, how many teams went undefeated. This thread turned into Garden vs SJA. Just saying don't rule out the teams, who went undefeated. Some of the #2 teams would win in a dual, against some of the # 1 teams. Hence the post. "Best dual team" Maybe Chief could shed some light on this.
I'm going to have to disagree with you Spexy. With the exception of 321a (which looks like it's going to be a good team race at state) I think that the top tournament teams in 6a (GC), 5a (SJA), and 4a (Holton) are also your best dual teams within their respective classifications.
I was apart of the GC team that weighed in and competed 3 days in a row and I have to say I think it was better in the long haul. It definitely built up our mental toughness. I remember I had a few pounds to lose for each weigh-in but I got it off and so did the rest of my teammates. Plus we all got in the extra match against a then high ranked team. We wanted to prove how tough we were by doing it. An actual example of preparing us for state was that one of my teammates lost at that Thursday night dual and then came back and beat that same opponent in the state tournament. 3 days of weigh-ins are tough, but manageable. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't wrestlers competing at the NCAA championships have to weigh in 3 days in a row, and being in Nebraska I learned their state tournament is 3 days long requiring 3 days of weigh-ins.
I would be willing to set something like this up...2 mats/ 3 duals. Start at 2:00 PM, 4:30, and 7:00 PM. Just give me an idea on the time of the year and let me get it by my administration.
