I am not sure what this years prices are, but last year it was 11 dollars a person for each day at the 4A tournament in Salina. I would guess that all venues would set the same pricing.

According to the KSHSAA Manual:
Admission Prices for Friday are $10 Adults and $7 for students K-12 Admission Prices for Saturday are $10 Adults and #7 for students K-12
"KSHSAA Ticket Prices do not include any facilities surcharge levied at selected host sites." KSHSAA Wrestling Manual
Good luck to all this weekend!

I should have cleared it up, but yes those are the base prices and should have said that Hays will charge an additional $1 dollar fee making it $8 and $11. Just letting the forum know Hays adds a dollar on top of KSHSAA's price. Wasn't disputing you info at all just trying to enhance it.

5A/6A at Hartman Arena is charging $12 and $9. You'd think that Wink Hartman could find it in his heart to support a High School event. The amount of money that he actually makes on the event doesn't amount to anything in relative terms to his wealth. Which, conversely, would mean that the amount of money that he would lose by donating his facility would be equally insignificant.

The schedule posted for 3-2-1A is not current. Friday starts an hour earlier and there are no consolation matches on Friday according to the KSHSAA site. I can only surmise that they are having a BB game Friday night at the coliseum

I hate to say this, but I think it is time for 321A to find a new home! It seems that hosting the 321A State Tourney is not very important to FHSU any longer. Imagine the hassle of having to tear down everything Friday and then set it back up after the basketball game. Freaking JOKE! I am a FHSU alum, but shame on FHSU and it is time to say bye bye!!

Rick, I agree with you especially this on top of last year when they would not let anyone in to practice despite being snow delayed

Just my two cents, which doesn't buy two cents worth of anything.
I think most on here know of my great desire for keeping the 321A Wrestling Tournament in Western Kansas, and preferably as close to the "heart and home of Kansas Wrestling" (NW Kansas) as is possible.
Unfortunately, I agree with Mr. Williams.
Current FHSU administration has demonstrated over the past few years a rather "cavalier" attitude towards hosting high school events, events they know the dates of years in advance; and this extends to not just State Wrestling. They have requested and received schedule changes for 1A State VB & BB, and have messed around with our MCL BB Tournament to the point we will not be returning beginning next year. I DO understand when big, once-in-a-while events come along, such as the opportunity they had two or three years ago to host a NCAA-II Regional national qualifying tournament. But, for a regular season BB game? Really?
There was a time that FHSU believed getting high school aged kids on campus was important and was a great recruiting tool for their school. I no longer believe they see Kansas High School students as being valuable. Their expanding overseas enrollment and online programs have made dealing with and being nice to high school kids just a pain in their butt. We (the MCL) have been told we cost them too much money (FHSU received around $7000 from this year's MCL BB tournament, NOT including concessions) and our tournament is "no longer a priority" for them.
I have communicated to Mr. Lentz my frustration with Fort Hays' attitude. I know losing the MCL BB tournament will not shake up the Hays business community much since we don't purchase motel rooms. . . but the possibility of losing state tournament(s) and with it the motel rooms. meals at restaurants, shopping that is done over those two to three days and fuel should send a real message to Fort Hays administration through the Hays business community.
I have suggested to Mr. Lentz that the KSHSAA consider the Dodge City Convention Center as a replacement venue for FHSU.

Fort Hays State had nothing to do with scheduling of a Friday night basketball game. The MIAA sets all league dates/times. As much as we all love wrestling, you can't just cancel a "regular season BB game"...not in college.
This is the 3rd year in a row we've dealt with a different schedule...college wrestling Regionals 2 years ago (which very few in the wrestling community had a gripe about, because it was wrestling); weather last year; and basketball this year. Hey, I'd rather have a consistent schedule, too, but it's not a huge deal. Finals will start between 6:30 - 7 Saturday night, just like they did before the 4 mat format

Are you saying they've been lucky for the last 25 years and not had a game scheduled on that weekend. And what if they scheduled it on Saturday night. Would they have finished the tournament early? I know all the small schools out in Western, KS love it in Hays but do the small schools in Eastern Kansas for example Pleasant Ridge probably think that drive stinks. I know I'm "beating the old horse", why not one location? It could be done if people really wanted to do it.

Well, Holladay, No one said to cancel the bb game. It is hard for me to believe the MIAA does not allow for individual schools to make changes in their schedules; Thursday night instead of Friday; swap home and away, etc. Surely, FHSU is not the only MIAA member that has schedule conflicts and surely the MIAA schedules two years at a time, making it even easier for schools to trade dates if necessary. Further, I find it hard to believe that the MIAA commissioner/scheduler does not have those dates to look at when building the schedules.
And, IF IN fact it is true there is NO flexibility allowed by the MIAA then we should definitely look elsewhere as this will be, at least, an every other year issue.
As I stated earlier, it is not just a wrestling issue with Fort Hays and it is not just an MIAA issue; it is a lot about FHSU's ATTITUDE regarding their hosting of high school events. . . and I too hold a degree from FHSU.
Defend all you want, but I think other options should be explored.
And, Fan of the Sport
#1 that long highway runs both ways. We spend a goodly portion of our time in the eastern part of the state for other activities; without a doubt more than they spend "out here."
#2. lets beat some more dead horses while we are at it: A. find a venue that can accommodate a combined tournament; leads us to another dead horse argument B. too many classes, which leads us to C. crappy officiating D. bring back grand state
