Hello, many of you heard this exciting news last spring. The 2014 and 2015 NAIA college wrestling championships are coming to Kansas. In 2014 the event will be at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, KS on March 7th and 8th I am serving as a member of the Local Organizing Committee along with Bob Gonzales, Richard Fergola and Theresa Yetmar of Baker University.
We are going to utilize this forum topic as one way of getting information out about this very important event. In the days, weeks, and months to come I will post information about ticketing, session times, volunteer opportunities, ways you can advertise at or sponsor the event, clinics that will be associated with the event, and some athlete profiles (including some rooted in our very own USAWKS program).
Thank you all for your support and best of luck in your wrestling endeavors!

The NAIA Championships are broken down into four sessions—two on Friday and two on Saturday, with the last session on Saturday will be the championship matches. A ticket is required for each session. A special pre-sale for individual session tickets will go on sale Nov. 15. All group sales to KWCA/USAWKS affiliated groups for any reserved session ticket have a face value of $18, but can be purchased through the pre-sale for only $10 per ticket when buying a minimum of ten tickets. Thus, your club can make up to $8 per ticket if you choose to make this a fundraiser and resell the tickets for their face value. Following is a link where you can request information about the special promotion we are running for USAWKS clubs and KWCA members. NAIA Ticket Pre-Sale Special For KWCA and USAWKS Clubs

They have 7 of the 10 weight classes sponsored. The amount to sponsor a weight class is $500. Some clubs have indicated they would like to share or split a sponsorship $250. You need to contact Bob Gonzales.
So we still need help sponsoring 3 more weight classes.

Grand View closes 2013-14 regular-season ranked No. 1 in NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll
Email Print
By Alan Grosbach NAIA | Feb. 27, 2014, 3:52 p.m. (ET)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the 15th-straight edition, Grand View (Iowa) holds the No. 1 ranking in the NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll, the national office announced Wednesday. The Vikings, who have 12 individual wrestlers ranked in the poll, accrued 180 total points to become the first team to last the entire regular-season (including preseason poll) ranked No. 1 since Notre Dame (Ohio) accomplished the feat during the 2010-11 season.
Grand View’s ranked grapplers are highlighted by Ryak Finch (125), Brandon Wright (141) and Eric Thompson (285), who all rank atop their respective weight class. Wright is making his first appearance at No. 1 this season after knocking off previously top-ranked teammate Gustavo Martinez in the Central Qualifier’s 141-pound title match. The Vikings enter the national championships coming off their fourth-straight Central Qualifier team title, as all 12 grapplers automatically qualified with top four finishes.
Checking in at No. 2 for the second-straight week is Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) with 97.5 points. The Blue Raiders, who boast nine ranked wrestlers, continue to be led by top-ranked Joe Cozart (157) and Jameel Bryant (184). Both grapplers claimed East Qualifier individual titles and have been ranked No. 1 the entire season.
Montana State-Northern jumps three spots to No. 3 with 86 points. The Lights were third at the West Group Qualifying Tournament and had four individuals claim championships. Montana State-Northern boasts six ranked individuals, including No. 1 Ethan Hinebauch at 165 pounds and No. 1 Toby Cheff at 197 pounds.
Rounding out the top five this week are No. 4 Southern Oregon and No. 5 Missouri Valley with 78.5 and 69.5 points, respectively. West Qualifying Group champion Southern Oregon has eight ranked individuals, including three top-five wrestlers. Missouri Valley has seven grapplers ranked in this edition.
In addition to Wright and Hinebauch, Colby Crank of Bethany (Kan.) takes over the top spot at 149 pounds and Michael Ruiz of Great Falls (Mont.) claims the No. 1 ranking at 133 pounds.
No. 16 Missouri Baptist and No. 20 Concordia (Neb.) are this week’s newcomers. For the Bulldogs, the ranking is the first since the 2011-12 Postseason Poll on March 9, 2011, while Missouri Baptist was ranked previously this season.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the Qualifying Groups.
