And right before I shook your hand, every single time, when you were not looking, I picked a booger and put it in my palm.......

As Doug and Chad say, just behave the same way win or lose, hug or not.
I feel the same about coaches coming over after their kid wins and want to shake my hand knowing they don't do the same when they lose. If it's done win-or-lose I'm fine with it otherwise take a hike.
I've recently had some coaches shake hands prior to the match. I've since seen kids at shake the other coaches hand before the match instead of after. Both seem like a good compromise.

Very Rarely will I shake hands with a coach after Jake wins...I would say I shake hands after he loses 95% of the time.

Here is one for you. What about giving you hand to the kid to help him up. My son had a kid that stomped us put his hand out and help my son off the mat. My son has now started to do this, all the time.Even if he has lost he still puts his hand out if the boy was on bottom. He has had about 80% take his hand win or loose. Some get real mad if they are loosing and will not get help up.
What do you all think ?

Nope. You are battling to win. Nice guys finish last. Take my handshake after the match as my sign of respect. Other than that, I have no time for it.

Chad, I have shaken your hand several times after coaching matches between our boys, although that was a number of years back, I'm pretty sure we didn't win a single one of them. CWB, just as Joe said, I believe you do it the same, no matter, but just as in wrestling during a match, you need to know the situation along with the score... I can't stand it when a coach or kid only tries to shake hands, fist bump or hug after a win.

Foreseeing a BIG GROUP HUG coming for Chad Beeson @ State! That's why he posted -- he wants to see how many HUGS he can get during State to break the record!!

My son wrestled Bryce Shoemaker about a half dozen times from the age of 8-10. No need for me to say who won those matches and Bryce would put his arm around Garrett as the left the center circle hand shake and tell him good match. There is no doubt in my mind that he did it with very good intentions. He was a beast once the first whistle blew, but a gentleman after the match was over. Garrett never had a problem with it and knew that he would have to wrestle a perfect match to even be within striking distance at the end of three minutes.

Ok, ok. This is what I know from being a part of kids/high school wrestling. 90 % of these kids have been wrestling each other year in and year out, since age of 5. Warriors on the mat, friends off the mat. Each kid looks out for the other, no matter what team they wrestle for. Loosing sucks, I get it. But who are we to decide, if they give each other a QUICK hug after the match. Seems a moot subject.

My youngest just started this season and the jury is still out whether or not he takes the long journey. Here is my burning question, if he is still wrestling in a few years and he wins a match, is it alright if I hug his mom/my wife?

That's messed up. I approached Chad today, put my hand on his shoulder and didn't get JACK. Not cool Beeson.

It sounds like maybe Beeson only has so many hugs in him and Tracey used them all up.

Doug, leave the Booger jokes to the Booger King. And the only reason you never hugged after winning was well..... there weren't that many wins. Sorry man I had to.
Well you're just a special kind of stupid aren't you?

Just so you know your luck is in tact, I got a sweaty 2 pat and he was already hugging someone else before I knew it.
