Well lets just say Belleville isnt the largest team. we at one time had like only four guys left. until one who had quit came back to wrestle. i think a 160 pounder from uh, eh i forgot  wrestles with beloit but hes the only one from his school that wrestles. but the awesome thing is we actually have won a duel and in superior at the red raider tournament we were at one time in fourth place before finals started. all but one of our guys have very nice records and im pretty sure all of us four can get close to making state. oh yeah we finally got a new wrestling member this week too!!! yay!!! (sorry its about time we get someone else) another thing, if anybody is wanting a place to wrestle just send me a message cause i dont think our program is going to hold out much longer with low numbers like this!

This year pittsburg, diamond and BVN had a pretty small team. They were giving up 30 team points for forfeit. and BVN Still ended up taking first at the pittsburg dual.

How many people did they have? in my freshman and softmore years we actually had somewhat of a team, we placed third at onega and smith center. i dont even remember having a jv side. its pretty much wrestle varsity all the time and if you had enough points left you could go to the jv meets to get more xp. ya well ive lettered every year. im the only senior this year. but there are advantages/disadvantages to having a small team

Secora Fernandez (152) and Nick Newell (160) wrestle with Beloit. Both of them are from Mankato.

I believe Hugoton brought only two wrestlers to the Scott City tournament last weekend. Not sure if they have more, but that is a pretty small team.

Sainty has a relatively small team this year, only 21 out, but have managed to almost fill every weight for every duel. and remain very competitive.

I remember seeing Rock Creek with 2 or 3 guys at the Beloit tournament before. One year they actually finished with -2 points, which has to be some kind of a record.
Congrats, Aquinas! Great job, Hat Town! Salyer Rules!

BVN doesn't have a small team this year. They are only giving up two weight classes this year.

Pittsburg had more Jv guys going to jv tourneys than varsity guys who go to varsity tourneys and they were giving up on an average 30 points per dual in forfeits

Looking at the Beloit tournament I counted 5 wrestlers for Belleville-
112- 130- 140- 160- 171-
I know it is tough to wrestler with low numbers but it is important to stay positive and get the excitement rolling again. It might be nice to see wrestlers help with the little kids program so they see some older kids that wrestler. Not sure if that is legal or not but need to keep the wrestling programs going in Kansas.
If anyone has ideas it would be great help to get this low number programs going. Belleville is close to COncordia and if no kids program then do any go to Concordia to wreslter

While we had a full team during the season, we had only 3 guys qualify for state and took 2nd, back in 1979.
Junction City 1st with 11=wrestlers Salina Central 2nd with 3=wrestlers all the other placing teams had 7+ I think, it was 25 years ago

While we are not small in numbers (51) we are small in size with 5 103 lbs. and 4 112 lbs. and a no one over 215 lbs. Our HWT weighs a meaty 195 with a belly full of water. If push came to shove we have at least 10 guys who could pull the weight down to 103. We are a "small" team for sure.
