How many school boards are keeping wrestling with small numbers? The 2 from Manakto are wrestling with Beloit until Regionals. The guy from Belleville says they had 4 kids out and that is low enough that the school has to think of something Don't you think?

I never want to see a program dropped but at what time do we all think the school has to cut it?

Horton High School has 8 total wrestlers of which 6 are Freshman. 1 Junior and 1 first year Senior @ Heavy. Only 3 of the 8 has had any prior signifigant club background to speak of. 4 compete on JV and 4 @ Varsity level. Not able to win any duals when you give up minimum of 42-48 points from all the open weights but if we win about half our matches of those competing as young as we are I'd say that's pretty fair. We have some hard "Chargers" so to speak who are battling.

My senior year, we (Caney) had only 9 wrestlers out. We very nearly beat Burlington at the League Duals and, not counting forfiets, we had a winning record against every team we faced. It's kinda hard to win when you're giving up 36 points, though.

Oh yeah, we also got third at the Fredonia Tourney

Caney only has 9 this year, but did get third at the LCHS Duals.

Noble, keep fighting to keep wrestling at Belleville. I know that when we lived there, wrestling and softball was always talked about being cut. The problem is that all of the wrestlers will start going to school in Concordia and I don't think that Belleville can afford to lose anybody else. Am I right? Fight the administration and principle. Fight the school board. Because they all think that boys basketball is king and everything else is trash.
Chapman has a small wrestling team this year but will grow bigger next year and hopefully bigger still the year following. The 8th Grade class is full of wrestlers who are very talented. The 7th grade class consist of one national kids wrestling champion and 2 kids mutliple state winners. Keep them together and we will be on a roll in about 3 to 4 years.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I may have my facts mixed up. I believe the smallest team this year is Baxter Springs with 1 wrestler, Cody Garvin. Although usually wrestling under the code name: "unattached for Columbus" I believe Baxter Springs has beaten several teams this year including 3 teams at Basehor.

Wrestling and softball are always on the chopping blocks. It is hard as a coach to deal with that all the time.

Tell Ty hello and I hope your family is doing well. I know Ty understands the softball coaching woes and believe me they are not getting any better. Jess is a great kid and I hope he does well from here on out.

Thanks for your support. I will tell Ty hi for you. Jess is a great kid but his dad's influence keeps getting him in trouble! I don't know if I could live with two smart...holes but it does keep me on my toes. We really enjoy Chapman but do miss our friends in Belleville. We always plan on coming back some weekend but you know how time flies. By the way, you wouldn't happen to know of someone who would like to buy a house there would you? Just kidding.

when you read posts about 5a and 6a schools giving up 30 points because they have 5 open weights, and read that St. Francis has 21 out when they only have 5o to 60 male students, you beging to wonder about the posts people make defending how tough it is just to make the varsity in 5a and 6a. You would expect many 321 teams to be short, but when you cant get over 15 or so kids out when there are 30 or more guys in the school, you have to think that wrestling isn't a very important pastime at those places.
I wonder how many short brackets there will be because of lack of interest in some of the bigger classes?

Tiger, Please do not bring the program down anymore by pretending to know things, review your posts. Belleville being in fourth before the finals at a tourney is nothing to brag about.

Noble I was on the same team as you when i was a senior and i am glad that you care about wrestling and are still out that is a lot more that most can say in belleville. I appreciate that you still show interest in the sport, but at the same time some of the comments you have made on this forum are an embarassment to myself and the belleville wrestling community. I ask that you think before you speak. As everyone knows actions speak louder than words so before you make remarks such as you have on this forum i ask that you hold your comments to yourself before setting yourself up for ridicule. Once you prove yourself on the mat you may say whatever you want until that day keep it to yourself. I wish the best of luck to the entire team. I have spoken to a few of the most outstanding wrestlers belleville has produced and the agree with me fully.
