What about discounted commuter camps at our KS colleges and make it available to all the Kansas USA kids and keep some of those funds in the state. Just a thought. Or host some duals in Kansas.

I think it would be a good use for some of the fees that our club wrestlers, other clubs and families pay. We only have about 100 kids this year (1,500 -2,000 wrestlers over the last 25 years) - but over the years that adds up and has help the USAWKS Fund balance..

I put this on the high school forum, but I will put it here also. This camp is for 6th grade and above. It allows for both commuter and overnight campers. I will also put at the bottom another camp for the younger wrestlers that is only a commuter camp.
Unstoppable at Cloud County Community College: 2017 Thunderbird Wrestling Camp
Featuring:
Anthony Robles (NCAA Division I National Champion, 3X Pac 10 Champion, 3X NCAA Division I All-American) *Additional guest clinicians to be added to the camp line-up
Chris Freije- Cloud County CC Head Wrestling Coach, NCAA II National Finalist, RMAC Conference Champion
Thunderbird Technique/Competition Camp (June 17th-20th)
Focus:
Summer practice makes winter champions…..learn how you must to train in order to reach your maximum potential. Campers will be guided through championship technique, drilling, and live wrestling scenarios from camp clinicians who have attained success at all levels of wrestling. Athletes will learn technique from past, and current State Champions, NAIA and NCAA All-Americans, NAIA National Champions, and NCAA National Champions that helped them reach their pinnacle.
Athletes participating in the Thunderbird Technique and Competition Camp will polish their skills, as well as learn new highly effective technique that will give them the confidence, and knowledge to attain their future goals. This camp will focus on technique appropriate for wrestlers of all skill sets, and experience levels that will translate to immediate success on every level of competition. Camp consists of over 20 hours of technique broken up over the course of 8 sessions, and 4 days. These sessions will consist of technique, drilling, and live wrestling. Camp culminates with a competition takedown tournament, with the champions at each weight class taking home a Championship Title, and an individual trophy.

You will have hands on interaction with camp clinicians, counselors, and coaches over the course of the entire four days of camp. This includes Q&A, and training tips (nutrition, mental preparation, note taking, etc.) with the various clinicians, and camp staff at the conclusion of every session.

What about discounted commuter camps at our KS colleges and make it available to all the Kansas USA kids and keep some of those funds in the state. Or host some duals in Kansas. This would open up the opportunity to impact many more kids around the state rather than just the 2-4% (traveling teams) of the 8,500 KS USA card members. And at the same time we would be show casing our colleges and promoting them. Just a thought. Growing the sport means keeping all kids in it longer and developing everyone.
