With all the cancelations caused by snow and ice this season, I got to thinking. Why not move wrestling to be a spring sport?

There are several benefits to this.
1. Obviously we would not have to deal with duals and meets getting canceled due to snow and ice. Unlike sports like basketball, we do not get our events rescheduled so kids just miss out on whatever event is canceled.
2. Facilities. I know of several schools that do not have a wrestling room so they have to roll mats out wherever they can find space often leading to missed practices. Without boys and girls basketball taking up the gyms they'll be able to roll out mats in their gym for practice. And this will be easier for AD's to schedule facility use for duals not having to schedule around basketball practices and games.
3. We can get some of those top athletes who play basketball to come out for wrestling since the sports are in different seasons.
4. We lose track of a lot of kids during winter break for whatever reason. This would eliminate the lull in the season.
5. Wrestlers will be able to enjoy the meals and time with their families during the holidays and not have to worry about their weight or be in a bad mood being around all that food and being unable to eat what they want.
6. Cutting weight will be easier and safer for kids. The human body is biologically designed to retain body fat in cold weather making it harder to cut weight in the cold winter months.
7. Having wrestling in the spring will allow the high school season to flow more seamlessly into Freestyle and Greco seasons.

These are just some thoughts I had on moving wrestling to the spring. What are your thoughts? Would this be beneficial? And would this be plausible?
