It's obvious that as a whole team, western kansas dominates eastern kansas, but in terms of individuals, the east does tend to produce a few more outstanding wrestlers. All of this can basically be attributed to the kids programs that the sides of the state run. Other than the East Kansas Wrestling Club, there's no real good program here for kids to get started in and thus they end up starting in high school. Western schools usually have a lot better kids programs. That means that while they have less total kids, they have a vast greater amount of experienced wrestlers to draw from which means a better overall team. But I think that if the east started to build up its programs, then you would see a dominance come from the east, because those who have come through the east kansas club from childhood usually end up dominating the hell out of anyone else, and that's where the majority of the undefeated state champions come from.
