Seriously, everyone uses the Butt Drag. It is a very successfull move. But when there is no "drag" involved, it's just plain "butt" then it's checking oil. I've watched some people, not just from Turner, get in a took down situation and use it to avoid giving up points. In one match on tape, you could somebody, maybe their coach, yelling, "Check His Oil!" When he was about to get reversed. That's what gets at me.

turner doesnt wreslte dirty at all. i've seen them wrestle at a couple of tournaments, and no, they dont. they are just good from top to bottom. its a physical sport, inflicting pain upon your opponet is part of it. i've never heard a turner coach yell, "check his oil"....i hope turner owns 5A state. good luck.

Help me. I never thought I led a sheltered life and also thought I knew most moves but the terms butt drag and checking his oil are unfamiliar to me. Could you explain (without being toooo graphic.) maybe I know it by another name.

ok, maybe i'm wrong, if nobody else thinks there is a problem, there must not be one. Like I've said before, I've never experienced it, but I've just heard lots of complaints on it. Maybe I am wrong. I just wanted to hear some other views after hearing what I heard. And Turner does have a good shot at taking the state title, but Carrol is gonna be tough competition.

Fanatic-- As disgusting as the cheerleader put it, she was right. Guys do this when they are put in precarious situations to make the opponent uncomfortable. For example, I have seen a defensive wrestler do this when the offensive wrestler is extended on a single leg takedown to get him to release the leg. It is also done when you set the arm in to switch and you are trying to pull yourself up behind the other wrestler. Maybe others can help out with examples...I try to stay away from that as much as possible.
Congrats, Aquinas! Great job, Hat Town! Salyer Rules!

Cody Bell, You do your fair share of stalling also. Just an observation. And no, I don't consider you one of the dirty wrestlers, but there are sure a lot of them out there. I'm still not sure about that call against you in Hiawatha. What exactly was that all about?

When I learned a butt drag, it was were they are in on a single leg so you post one elbow on their head, reach inside to the inside elbow, and then with your outside arm grab a butt cheek(notice I'm not saying anything about going in), and then pull your opponent forward causing them to fall down. It's a pretty successful move even on the collegiate level.
You better watch out, someone's catching up to you.

Fanatic, I do happen to agree with you, that there are lots of dirty wrestlers out there. Some more so then others. Some are jerks threw and threw and don't have a decent bone in their entire body and some just wrestle dirty but are at least decent human beings once they step of the mat. Which still doesn't earn them my respect. But that's a different matter. There are however lots of great athletes who win without having too stoop so low. They get the job done by being outstanding wrestlers, by hard work and determination.

Heres what I think...maybe Turner is a little agressive but just look at the Iowa Hawkeye's, always in the top five wrestling university's in the nation. They're not flashy or whatever, they just plain get after it. I think Turner in some level can be compared to the Hawkeyes. Not just because their school colors are black and gold. Turner isn't just out their to win but win big. And they are probably going to do anything to get their. No hard feeling but thats wrestling. I mean the word, WRESTLING, its a fight with rules.
Yes their are some courtesy rules like don't hit people in the nuts and try to keep the finger out back door but hey, if your opponent ignores the unwritten rule then do it to him and see how he likes it.
ENJOY!!!

The Turner Wrestling Team is a group of hard-working, goal-setting, and determined young men. I don't understand why people are continuously and all of a sudden referring to the boys as "dirty wrestlers". In all of the years I've been around the sport our boys aren't exhibiting any practices that are different than all of the other teams. Albeit, at times an individual might overreact to a situation, however so DO OTHER BOYS ON OTHER TEAMS! "Let he without sin cast the first stone." It is a sport of physical contact, and aggression is to be expected, even by the spectators, as is noted by some of the postings. It seems to me that people are too worried about finding fault and trying to bring others down instead of rooting for an underdog. Turner is an urban school district with, for the most part, hard working blue-collar families. For once we are doing better than the suburban elite and getting ripped for it. I want to know if you'd be complaining about the wrestling if the Turner wrestlers were losing?!!!

Though I can honestly saw I,ve never noticed it stuck in there (obviously the hips are a wrestlers point of power and balance and so contolloing them is critical) I just can;t imagine it as being as severe as some of you put on.

Mamabear and all Turner folks don't let a few get to you. I think your team is awesome and I am still waiting for an invitation to your title celebration party. (I will wait until you take care of business) but I want (don't deserve) but want an invite to your celebration
