The entries are posted at http://www.wichitasports.com
and wow, there are some tough weights. It used to be the talk, that this tournament was as tough as state. Now many weights are as tough as some national tournaments. There should be some great wrestling and some very talented kids that might not even place.

You're right! 12u/76 is loaded. Quite a few really tough ones at 10u/70 also.

Which bracket are you referring to? I know of some of the wresters in BOTH brackets and there are quite a few REALLY tough ones in them both.

I know Shane Thomas (Oklahoma) is from our club and is really tough. He placed 3rd at Tulsa Nationals this year at the bottom of his division. Last week at Liberty Nationals I think Himmelman beat Shane. I've seen Beasley, Bontz, Cokeley, Engels & Kazimir wrestle and they are all top notch wrestlers. And Chase Ferman has been wrestling great the last few weeks. These are just the ones that I'm familiar with and I'm sure others in the bracket are contenders also. This will be a GREAT bracket to watch. I hope they are wrestling close to where my boys are wrestling this weekend so I can watch the matches.

Shane wrestled 80 at the Liberty Nationals so he didn't face Himmelman. The weight is tough. Blaine Smith has won or placed at state every year since he was six. He was the Champion at last year's classic.

That will make for an interesting bracket! I thought I saw on the OK forum that Shane lost to Himmelman and Thielke (or something like that) - but I must have remembered it wrong. I just can't wait to see how this one ends up on Saturday evening. Isn't this a great sport?

14 & U 100 is also tough with Haugen from Oklahoma and Hofer from Colorado among others entering in with some of the tough Kansas wrestlers and it looks like NM or AZ is going to have some wrestles again in numerous brackets.

12/U 76: How have Bontz and Engel done head to head this year? I would say that the top 4 consists of those two from Kansas, and easily Thomas/OK and Himmelman/CO. I dont know how they do the seeding, but would think that Thomas and Himmelman would be on opposite sides. Bracketing may be important on who actually makes it out to the medal rounds: and not trying to short any of the other entrants, but those would be my 4 picks if they are split up in the brackets.

I think 12 and under 96 looks like it is gonna be a tough bracket.

try going to the left menu on this site and click on calender. then click on the wichita classic tournament. That will bring up the website. Then scroll down until you see the age groups and click on the on you want to look at.
