1) Can a high school wrestler attend a kids wrestling practice during the season?[Rick Bowden, Assistant Executive Director] No – during the school season a member of a school team can only participate in practices with his school team.
2) Can wrestlers get together with other wrestlers and work out in the evening. Example: Kids from Prairie View, Anderson County, Paola and Osawatomie go to Paola High School during their Kids wrestling practice and drill/live wrestle with each other for a couple of hours.[Rick Bowden, Assistant Executive Director] Not under the supervision of any adult. Kids on their own doing things together – can’t prevent that. However, if they get together in a structured and called meeting (by an adult), then the intent as I would read it would be to have intersquad scrimmages.
3) Can you have an outside person come in and work with your kids during the season? Example: One of my parents pays John Smith $100 dollars a week to come in during Prairie View practice time and teach my wrestlers new moves and technique.[Rick Bowden, Assistant Executive Director] No, the only instruction that can be given to students on the school squad are the coaches for that squad.
