I think there are some insanely easy regionals. Ours for one, there are some people that qualified for state that have HORRIBLE records, and when you look west, there are good wrestlers getting beat out of their regional, not going to state, and these guys with records that are like 4-20 or 3-8 or 11-25 are going. Do these guys have a REALLY good tournament, or is the regional just unfairly easy?

I think the argument is invalid...I mean if you don't place in the top four of your regionals then you only have two places to shoot for at state...5th and 6th. I know many upsets and close matches happen at state but "to be the best you have to beat the best."

I don't think that you should talk about which regional is weak and which is tough. Everyone now in the state bracket has a chance for the championship. Leavenworth had some really good matches. Ex. Torrez v.s. Sonderegger (8-5) This was an awsome match!
Halpin v.s. Chaz Hill This was also a good match!
There was also alot of other good matches
But lets just focus on STATE!

look at the 4a brackets and see the great records, then look at the 5a brackets and see the many losing records, Guess 5a is too easy to make state

You can't put too much weight on just the records I mean what does it "mean" that so many have such good records its difficult to tell who is good better or best until the end of state. Alot would depend on each schools scedule, how good of reputation each school has, how good the kids program is,how many are out for wrestling, how many are seniors, juniors, etc. Maybe the number crunchers could provide more info but the conclusion from the numbewrs is still and always the problem.

ok why does everyone always complain, we all know that the western regionals are harder than the kc regionals, so if you don't like it move to kc.

Thought this would be the perfect time to interject with my new catchphrase:

It evens out for the ones who had a hard regional when they get one of those guys in the first two rounds at State. I don't think there's a better way to do this than what we're doing right now.

Halpin v.s. Chaz Hill This was also a good match! This appears like a 6 year old match too many points scored. Either some one couldn't keep the other on the mat or they traded take downs... 14 to 12? Whats up with that?

PUPS4EVER-
Since most of the life we humans deal with is humanly created each of us being different; expecting life to be fair is perhaps a misperception. Stating that life isn't fair is then perhaps also a misperception. Making the playing field as equal as possible is thwn the goal. Other than the different classes and each class having their own regionals we have geographical issues. This issue is as fair as its going to get. Thus by definition both fair and unfair it only only depends on your point of view. Life is fair or unfair is not the real issue its how we/you deal with your/(our) perceptions, experiences.

the haplin vs. hill match was a good match. haplin was leading like the whole time. but chaz just wouldn't give up, but fell just short in the end.

There has got to be an answer for the rediculous 5a and 6a regionals. We should even the schools out accross the board where every regional has the same amount of kids in every bracket. Who cares if you have to drive accross the state to wrestle. I can't imagine any wrestling fan at State wanting to watch a 4th place, 4-20 kid from Leavenworth go against a Stud from the other side of the State. There is obviously a problem when every 4a kid wishes they could wrestle 5a and 6a regionals. The State Tournament is not just about who is in the top 6. I know there will always be weak Sections but it should not be a whole class. Let's find a solution!

i like watching a kid at 8-20 take on a stud.
it's wrestling.
state is about watching kids from your school take in all the excitement and fun at state. most kids go in knowing they are realistically not going to win it all.
congrats to all SQ (no matter the record or how they get there)
let the cry babies whine about what's not fair. maybe they will grow up someday and realize that the world is not always fair.
Good luck to all wrestlers in all classes this weekend.

yes, congrats to all the 10 and 25's good job on making it to state. but do remember to make your pothetic state tourney appearance worth the seasons of all those class act wrestlers with losses in the single digits whose seasons were ended in the cons-semis at norton and abiline be sure to enjoy the two beatings you get while they watch from the bleachers this weekend! good job on placing in the top four!

Hey, I have a wonderful idea... why don't you whine a little more? Like I've said, every student in the state of Kansas who weighs under 275 pounds is given a chance to place in their state tournament.

Here you go again. You just cant get over this can you.
I really dont think every 4A kid wants to wrestle 5A & 6A Regionals. Its more like you and a few other punks who cant cut it at 4A regionals that want to switch. Well, quit bitching and do it.
I wonder what your excuse would be once you got your *** pounded at 5A or 6A State.
Get over it spike you've been trying this same argument under different titles for the last 3 months.
The solution is move to a 5A or 6A school and good luck making varsity once you do.

Well said bigkneepads4. And to pups4ever- Yes every kid under 275 has a chance to make it to state but in no way do they have an EQUAL chance. Vikes- ask the kids from Minneapolis, Osborne etc.how much fun they are going to have competing, watching the kids from their school and enjoying the excitement at state.
