Just curious about something bubowksi -- Have you ever actually gone to Coach Weber and discussed your personal concerns about the program, or do you only do it annonymously here on the Forum? Or have you talked to Chris Powers or to any of the other PR administration?
PR did have an excellent program at one time but has suffered through the same numbers crunch that many small school go through. If your powers of promotion and recruiting are so much better than Coach Weber, then I suggest you offer to help -- in person that is.

Coach David Nigg resigned at the Head Wrestling Coach at Wichita South High School a couple weeks ago. On Friday, I was interviewed and accepted the job as Head Wrestling Coach at Wichita South. I have some awful big shoes to fill but am honored to get the opportunity to do so. As a wrestler under David Nigg and an assistant under him for two years along with wrestling under great coaches in college, I believe I have learned enough to begin coaching a high school team.

Well, I would be stupid not to keep him as an assistant. He wants to work with J.V. kids in practice more and just relax his last 5 years or so. He will still be the head assistant and will make all varsity trips with me. His daughter is heading to college this year on a soccer scholarship and I believe he wants to also be able to take off when he wants to watch her. However, he will be around

I wish it was still the way you described it but it's not, the program will dye with the current head coach. Im sorry, but being from horton and wrestling them are differnt than the fans i guess. But pleasent ridge has a better coaching staff than alot of schools around.

Wow, the city schools have had a huge turnover this year. Two were expected however.
That makes East, South, and North with new heads. What's the word on West? I heard the head coach was looking elsewhere.

Caney Valley needs a head coach an assistant coach. Coach Lentz's wife got homesick and got a good job back in Missouri...

I believe that should be it for the City. Prichard at NW isnt moving any time soon. Heights will be there at least another year. Southeast (Lemonater) has found a home for a while, Dryden wont be leaving Kapaun until he crokes, I did hear about other Dryden possibly leaving west, but that might have just been a rumor. Of course, Finkeldei can't leave what he has. So I believe the North, South, East jobs are the only ones. Gibby, who were your two expecteds in this one? Nigg and I had this projected change in the works for two years. Have a good day.

Hays has hired John Hafliger to take over the program there. He's been a long time assistant in the program and should do a really good job. His number one concern will probably be getting the numbers back up. Good Luck to Coach Hafliger and I hope he has a lot of success!!!!!!!

Coach Threlkel, former TMP assitant and Felton or Kennedy Jr. High Coach told me he was returning to coaching Jr. High in hopes of saving the program from dissapearance and help renew some interest. He said, "I'm getting too old or something." I wish Coach Threlkel the best of the luck and Coach Haflinger as well.

Yes, Bob is going to return to coaching at Felten where he currently teaches at. He is hoping to get there program built back up to where it was when he left it 5 or 6 years ago. I really enjoyed wrestling under him the last 3 years and wish him the best of luck in the future.

Church,
I should have worded that better. Lentz and Nigg's retirement wasn't a question of "if" but "when."
Both are close to retirement, so finding an assistant to take over the helms was in their best interest.
Unfortunately for Lentz, I don't think he was able to find someone to take the program over. Niggs on the other hand was able to take a former wrestler and hand over the program. That's why I said I wasn't suprised. It's a relief I'm sure that coach Niggs was able to hand over a program he spent so much of his life being a part of to someone that came through that program. I doubt I'm the only one out there that thought when you were brought on that you were being groomed as the next head coach. I think it's awesome.
By the way, Jordon Best wants a rematch at the alumni dual. He said each time he was going to score big, you called timeout. As I told him, that's part of being an alum. We get perks. If we didn't, we wouldn't show up. We get beat up enough at home by our wives. We don't want to travel down to Parsons and get beat up by a bunch of college kids.

I'll give Jordan a re-match next year. This time though, I'm not going to come in as bad a shape. I did call time-out, but only once and he was going to score on the one I called a time-out on. Thats why alumni can call time-outs I did take him down twice in the first period and once in the third. Let him know, I got his challenge, and yes, I'll be back.

Does anyone know whether Salina South has made a decision on there Head Coach. I know rumor was that Coach Seibel was getting the job, and I think that he would do a great job for them

Hey Coach, you need to come down now with Tim and we can have the re-match while we are both out of shape.

Switzky will be taking over the job at Royal Valley next year for John James who is stepping down. Don't know the particulars but I am happy to have known Coach James. He helped me out and is a very friendly guy, as long as we weren't dueling each other. Best of luck to ya Coach. Coach Switzky and I are league rivals and will be seeing alot of each other. Hope we are still going to have that duel tourney! Coach Brown
