I heard today that there were several coaches around who were a little upset at the deal about several wrestlers at several weights. It is a really tough deal and I know they work very hard on it and spend weeks making decisions on it that are as fair as they can be with them. Sometimes it is just a tough deal. I know we had some at Schlagle way back when that I wanted in but there were just a lot of factors. They do all they can do with it though and it is very difficult to seperate them and of course it is a match everyone wants to win too lol and that has become a factor in this little grudge match.

By the way if you all look at some of the Missouri boards those little fellas are talking bad about the good boys again. Lots of mouth going on over there as usual. Makes for a spicey little match doesn't it

Not bad huh. It is always fun to see those kinds of matchups and always surprising how they turn out both ways. Sort of a pre college feel to it most of the time.

... "a little grudge match" ... I would say so! What a lineup! But, I doubt if we can compete, considering what I read on the Missouri board!
Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

David Mullins from Gardner Edgerton is wrestling at 152 pounds. He placed 2nd at state behind Pietzyk from Salina South, however, Mullins beat Pietzyk earlier in the season.
Congratulations David and Good Luck at the Classic.

Lyons didn't even wrestle 215 this year and he is a long way away from KC. I think Paxton should have made it.

Lyons was rated #1 in the state until he dropped to 189 after the 1st of the year. So, yes I know for a fact that he wrestled at 215 this year and Effingham is within 75 miles of KC so he is in fact eligible to be in the Metro...

Lyons wrestled 215 at the Larry Tilton Classic and beat Paxton in the finals. Further more his school district comes right up the the Leavonworth Co line and is well in the metro area. As for Pyle, I will be shocked if he is not a Kansas win. I know there are lots of good kids who couold have been in but it would be real nice if the whole state would get behind the team that has been selected and pull for "another" Kansas win.

GO KANSAS!!! Looks pretty good on paper with Kansas winning 8 of the 15. Good luck to all our wrestlers.
Anyone have predictions?

112 Buetler vs Patton -- Patton plus bonus pts 112 Cookston vs Gardner -- Gardner plus bonus pts 119 Brett Watkins vs McCormick -- toss up 125 K. Dickey vs Seilert -- Dickey plus bonus pts 130 Josh Moyer vs Oswald -- Moyer plus bonus pts 135 Cale Griffin vs Bogart -- toss up 140 Justin Cole vs Pyle -- Cole dec 145 Brock Whittmeyer vs Ibarra -- Whittmeyer Pin 152 James Williamson vs Mullins -- Williamson Pin 152 Rodney Pettit vs Hart -- Hart Tech Fall 160 John Jarred vs Medill -- Jarred Dec 171 Jesse Sheets vs Lattimer - Lattimer Dec (though somebody is getting thrown in this one) 189 Mark Wall vs Pingleton -- toss up 215 Drew Marriott vs Lyons -- Lyons Pin 275 Doug Mitchell vs Kimzey -- Kimzey dec
"On Paper" it is KS 25 -- MO 27 with three toss ups. Bonus points are going to decide this one.
Question on the Missouri Board - they adhered to a 50 mile limit from KC city limts while Kansas has a 75 mile limit from the suburbs. They are screamin' murder on that one.

Well they need to come to the meetings and see what it is for sure because it has been 75 miles for years. This is old news. They have had a knob knoster kid in the past. Nobody screamed about that because lots of people go to the meetings and are up on the rules of the gig. They scream when they don't have a clue what they are talking about. Same old same old

I don't know many of the missouri wrestlers but from what i know of the kansas wrestlers these predictions seem a little strange. I also can't see that many pins and tech falls among good wrestlers. During the Kansas 3A finals there were no pins or tech falls and only one major decision. In fact, I can only recall one wrestler scoring near falls. I think these predictions are out there a bit and I see mostly close matches.

Sure Pyle is deserving, but I just thought they could accomodate Roath as well. I notice there are 15 matches, including 2 at 152. Obviously, exceptions were made to allow for this. As I stated when we nominated him, he could wrestle 130, 135, or 140 just to get him in there. Surely, Missouri has another kid. Why 2 matches at 152? Yes, we beat a kid (Bailes) with 10 losses in the finals, but Bailes is a good wrestler who pinned Riley of Salina South to earn his way there. Yes, Roath is only our 2nd State Champion in school history (Elmer 83, the other)but the mere fact is he won, changes were made for others, and we are approximately 1 mile from the venue. We would easily have sold 50-75 tickets from his family and staff members who have this happening right in their back yard. If I dont stand up for him, then who does?
