Nigel you can win state with a few great guys or lots of really good guys. If you have both then you are really one up. Either way no matter how loud you post, it isn;t going to score any points for Abilene. The most you will do is raise the ire of Abilenes opponents which isn't fair to your team because they aren't saying anything.

I guess you are all forgetting about Rose Hill, they placed 2nd at the Rose Hill, by far, one of the toughest tournaments in the state... They were only like 10-20 points behind Columbus... Fort Scott was there as well... So don't count them out...

Of course they are not saying anything, they don't need to. They are well aware of what is at state. Abilene has no opponents to speak of fanatic. You don't go to the state tournament gunning to be 1 specific team when the race is going to be this close. That is a 5A situation there were everyone is gunning to be Ark CIty year in and year out. As i've said before its going to be tight, And I think there are noly 4 teams in 4A that are going to be up there in that battle. Several of them lsited in this forum are not ones on my list. I've been at this for a long time so I think I have some idea of what im talking about. But hey hope and wish all you want, maybe you'll surprise people, but not likely.

Nigel help me out
I think in 99 i scored the most team points I think it was 23.5 I might be wrong!! dont remember. I do now that D. Tover was only .5 a point behind me. Tovar placed 2nd that year he got beat by Lyra. I placed 3rd.
Still out scored tovar who was in the finals Dont count out the Abilene Kids that might end up on the back side they do have the chance of scoring just as many points.
I had to pin every one i wrestled on sat to score that many but it can be done i think i had 5 in a row nigel help me out.
Even if Geske Dawson and Peterson dont make it to the finals they still will score a lot of points. I think all three of them have a good shot at the big show Geske is though as nails and i worked with peterson last summer i think he took 3rd last year. I dont really know The Dawson boys but i know there brother or cousin not sure how they are related and if they are anything like cory they are tough to.there are in Abilene for regionals this year so i bet that home town crowd gets a few more in the big show this year. Through in Abilene First 4 timer and Ross Taplin returning state champ. Then we get a new banner hanging in the gym right next to the other 3.
GOOD LUCK ABILENE Brady I will see you next sat Good Luck!

Since u guys say Erisman looks like he was out of shape then he probably was. He's probably practicing really hard the rest of this week and when he meets up with Wiscombe again at state he will dominate because he'll be in better shape come state.

Well said Coach! I am not from De Soto, but I've been saying all along that Erisman will beat Wiscombe. He did once and he'll do it again. If Erisman "was out of shape" the first time around, so much the worse for Wiscombe!

cody bell hit the nail on the head. just cuz neil beat wiscombe 3-1 at LEAGUE doesn't mean he'll dominate the next time. I've known both neil and justin for a long time, and i'm sure they'll step it up for state. it is a whole new ballgame come wichita. should be another great match. Hunter Samuels Tonganoxie

Nigel I hate to tell you I have been at this before you were in diapers and I think it is fair to say there are only a handful of guys that post on this site that have been to more state tournaments than I have. The main difference is that few people have less objectivity than you.

And if you don't think Scott City for instance has a chance to compete for the title you are just plain nutty, and yes I picked Abilene to win but I am beginning to wish you wind up with egg on your face. Well not quite, I really like Taplin and Kreigbaum as people.

Justin Wiscombe is a very talented wrestler...at league he seemed to be a little reserved during the match with Erisman. Both are great athletes and it should be another great match...if they meet up at state. The outcome could go either way...Good Luck to both!!!

Nigel--
In a tough division (like 6A) you need many placers. A few champs won't cut the mustard. I think that is a result of tougher all-around wresting.
Congrats, Aquinas! Great job, Hat Town! Salyer Rules!

The reason you need so many placers in 5A and 6A is because they are so weak that most of the solid teams will score a lot of points by having their 10 qualifiers. In 4A, there are so many great wrestlers over numerous teams that they slow down all the many placers that one team can have. That's why the state results at the end of the tournaments for 4A end up at like 100-110 for the top 3, and in 5A and 6A you see teams end up with 130-140 point totals. Just my take on it!

Well im sure Scott City has a chance all be it a small one. Either way if Abilene doesn't win it, then Columbus, Goodland, or Clay Center will, so there will be no egg in my face. Futhermore if Abilene doesn't win state its not like im going to sit around and cry about it. Im already happy enough that they won league again, and I know they will fair well at State. If they do win however I will give them all the credit in the world. Dingbat I will give your comment absolutly no response because it was stupid and unfounded.
