Ponderosa had a great showing this weekend at the A-West tournament. They are looking very tough.

Any predictions for the upcoming Hoxie/Ponderosa dual?

I think the key matches will be 119, 125, 130, and 152. Hoxie and Ponderosa both appear to be very tough at these weights.

Hoxie can win the dual if they shutout Ponderosa from 119-152 and win these weights by pin. Ponderosa should win the rest of the weights, and I think they will probably win a few in the 119-152 range as well.

My uninformed and biased predictions:
103: Ponderosa by dec. 3-0
112: Ponderosa by pin 9-0
119: Hoxie by dec 12-3
125: Hoxie by dec 12-6
130: Ponderosa by maj dec 16-6
135: Ponderosa by dec 19-6
140: Hoxie by pin 19-12
145: Hoxie by pin 19-18
152: Ponderosa by dec 22-18
160: Ponderosa by pin 28-18
171: Ponderosa by maj dec 32-18
189: Ponderosa by pin 38-18
215: Ponderosa by pin 44-18
Hwt: Ponderosa by pin 50-18

The only Ponderosa wins I'm not 100% on are at 135 and 152. I think Ponderosa's 135 will win only because the Hoxie kid only beat the Chapparal kid 6-3.

152's may be a tossup and will definetely be a 6 minute scramble. Both guys will be state champs at the end of the season, Ponderosa's guy tore up the defending Colorado 5A state champ last weekend and he's only a freshman. Next to 160, 152 is probably the stongest middle to upper weight for Ponderosa (112 and 130 round out the best weights on the team).

119, 125, and 140 won't be cakewalks for Hoxie either, but I'm sure they'll win at several weights and those seemed the most likely. At 145 the Hoxie guy is apparently really tough and Ponderosa's guy is pretty green.

What does everyone else think?
