Back in the early 90's Ark City had several kids come off one or two years of JV to be dominant state champs. They were unreal good!!!

I am sure Mike Farleigh will argue that some team in WESTERN kansas was better, but I find it hard to beleive that any team ever in Kansas was as dominant as Ark City in the early 90's.

It's kind of hard to argue that any team would beat a teacm with 2 national champions and a 3rd place finisher. Those being Chris Hernandez who won senior nationals and chad beeson who placed third and along with justin ware who also won senior nationals and dont forget scott goodale who was a DII national champion.

I am pretty sure Scott Gooddale and Travis Brooks could not make varsity and then went on to win 4 or 5 combined state championships!!!

There is one person no one really remembers, but a complete waste was Eddie Borror from ARk City. He was probably the best ever from Ark City, but only won state twic. Once because he was in Oklahoma and another because he got kicked off the team before regionals. He was awesome on the national level and faired very well on the Olympic ladder. I'm not exactly sure how well, I do know that he was killed in a car accident returning from his wedding a couple of years ago and his obituary read that he was a world champion. Im not sure of the accuracy.

No, scotty Goodale was varsity at 112 his freshman year. he had to move up from 103 b/c justin was there. he didnt do too well. i do remember one time him saying he was gonna win state 3 years and i laughed because he had a losing record at the time. and as far a Brooks goes. I could not believe he came along like he did. he just quit growing. he was on JV as a freshman and really came along.

One thing I noticed to was that there were 5 wrestlers from that 92 class including myself that went on to wrestle in college. remarkable

But wasn't Brooks JV his fresh and Soph year, then a 2x champ?

I think so. My sophomore year was Goodale 103 Brooks 112 and Ware 119 I think.

Sorry I'm Late on this one...Check out the following site for record info, etc. Kansas State Hall of Fame

It seems that the list of 4-time state champs is only partial, since the paper said Baldridge was the 18th.

Hey Scooby/Noble (or Weatherhead112)--Who are Weatherhead112's parents? I assume he is a grandson of Genie and Dean; and I know he's not Curt's, Karl's or Jared's...so that leaves Dana or Craig? (Can't remember Travis having a little brother...but I've been away for a while)

Bigpin22; You may be right, the 90's teams at AC were pretty much the height of Kansas wrestling at the time, and possibly of all time. The teams that I remember in NW Kansas are all as old as I am and it would not be safe for us to wrestle now, but some of those teams were quite dominant in their own time. the very impressive list of AC guys that went on to College success sets them apart, and you very well may be right about the superiority of their credentials. The only thing that the NW guys have over the AC guys is that they did it first, not necassesarily (never can spell that word right) better. hopefully this will clarify my position, and the fact that I do have respect for what the 90's AC guys did.

What about Jesse West? I know he moved to Iowa his senior year and only had 1 loss there in the state final.

Jesse West lost to in the finals his senior year to a friend of mine named Josh Budke from Cedar Falls Iowa. Jesse had beaten him twice earlier in the year. Budke went on to wrestle for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The Cedar Falls team that Budke wrestled for was sort of like the early 90s Ark City teams, but wrestling in Iowa!
