I hear the violin's playing over in the cheese section. OW goes to the guy usually who dominates or wins against the toughest competition. I haven't seen to many 103 or 112 pounders winning it also. It is just luck of the draw and how you do on a given day. Kansas is just blessed with a lot of talented wrestlers presently and its too bad they can only give the award to one wrestler, and now I guess two at the Bobcat. Remember it is opinionated and so don't complain about a certain weight just tell what kind of action was the wrestler performing at a certain tournament. I remember when Chris Bell got the OW down in Ponca City over Kenny Monday who had pinned 7 or 8 guys with the same move but set it up different each time. (Armdrag fireman's to a front headlock ultimate) It was awesome! But Bell had the toughest weight class. There were 38 multiple state champs in that weight class and like 50+ state champs.
Had Mike Goodwin in the Finals and man it was a war. Old Mike was all wrapped up because of an eye injury, and a couple of other things like a knee or elbow. They ended up in a 3-3 tie referee decision going to Bell but the best was the 5 or 6 flurries they had, you just didn't know who was going to end up on top till the dust cleared. Probably what I hope Nigel is trying to say is that the big boys don't flurry as much or as often. But no one can't say it ain't awesome to see one big boy throwing down another with such great force. Keith Beard at 265 throwing the 400+ pounders..............Whew the floor would shake for minutes. I miss those unlimited days.
