With two wins and you know your gonna get smoked, why make the trip. Better to just stay in the stands. But hey think what you want.

Very good point, but your probably going to be ignored by the people who are doing the most bitching because they are 4A people.

Leon, As a wrestler competing, of course you look at who you have to go thru to make it to the finals. If your a fan in the stand you look at the whole bracket to see what kind of wrestling there will be and as a fan you do not want to see a bunch of fish getting turned with half nelsons in 30 seconds. If you want to make wrestling more enjoyable at state for the 5a and 6a fans it's time to do something about it and stop lying to yourself. Maybe we should not have a Regional at all so everyone can qualify for state.

Why are you so worried about this? You say your worried about how damaging this is for wrestling in Kansas and it must change or kansas wrestling is doomed.
Please explain how this is bad for Kansas Wrestling. Who besides yourself and a few other disgruntled 4A guys thinks 5A and 6A wrestling needs to be more enjoyable than it already is?
Just because you dont watch 5A and 6A wrestling at State doesnt mean that there arent thousands of us out there watching it and enjoying the hell out of it.
Your the one lying to yourself continuely getting on here trying to make the other classes look bad so you can feel better about your own short comings in your own class.

If what these 4A supporters say is true no one should watch Big 12 football because Baylor has a losing record. So the whole conference is a joke and any conference that doesn't have a losing team is better than the Big 12.

By some people's theory John Smith must be a moron. He actually took a college wrestler to the national tournament with a losing record. How embarassing for the Cowboys! The guy must have got smoked. Two and B-B-Q? No...
"In 1994, he won one of the most improbable titles in NCAA history. He entered the NCAAs with an 8-9 record but marched to the NCAA title. He is one of only five Cowboys to win the NCAA title as a freshman." Marc Branch.
I'm not saying this has happened in our state tournament, but to deny a guy his place at one of the most memorable events of his life is crazy. Let's quit trying to split up the few people that love the greatest sport on Earth. You never know, a 2-16 guy might end up as a great advocate for our sport.

Nigel, I think your forgetting one thing… There are no losers in wrestling anybody that goes through the season and competes at any level should it be at JV or 9/10 are all winners . You talk about the young man that went 2-20 as if he didn’t accomplish anything. He still had to make weight, go to practice every Monday knowing that he needed to get better. Put up with people like you that didn’t think he deserves to be at State. Most people would say this is BS and quit. Allot of guys are watching cartoons nursing big heads on Saturday morning. Winning records is not what it is all about. We need to really understand wrestling is about dedication, hard work and the love of competition. So I say congrats to this young man for perseverance.

Just throw everyone in the state in one bracket, begin it at the beginning of the season, double elimination, and the last two will be the only two to compete at state. Might be like the final four of wrestling..hahahahahaha! We will get down the the toughest 2 eventually! (sarcasm)
I do believe however, that for us to gain respect as a state with good wrestlers, we should do it like many other states and have just one state tourney. Make it 2 weeks worth of regionals...such as substate, regional, state, and gettr done. Have a good one!
