I'd like to know what district voted for the ref that was on Mat 2. Shudog stated "We need better officals with the knowledge it takes to officate at state". Each district gets to select/recommend their ref choices for State. They are selected based on each individual club's input. So if you didn't cast your vote you may be part of the problem. I know he did not come out of District 2's list.

Wow, normally I would defend an official being battered on these boards, but if he really thought you needed a three count for two points I truly am disappointed in that, perhaps this person should consult their rule book. Now as for cutting off a second count and not awarding the points that is a different subject. If the official does not believe a full second count was earned but his momentum with his arm carries it out then he is perfectly within his right to not award points.

Donte Jones from WYCO beat Elijah. He wrestles in high school for Bishop Ward, 4A.

Donte Jones didn't even qualify for 4a state this year did he? He's a huge kid really tall! As for Elijah you live and die by the throw it will come back to get you sooner or later. Hoping to see him bounce back in Lincoln this weekend.

Gentlzer is right, it definitely was a wake-up call for Taylor. He wrestled very sub-par the entire state tournament, and I'm sure he'll learn from that. However... My compliments to Kazmir. He was ready and took care of business like it should be done, right from the beginning. He left no doubt that he meant business in earning his state title. I don't/won't compliment my own son on the forum very often, but I want to say I am as proud of him for the way he took his loss as some of those that have been mentioned. His wrestling may have showed the effects of the loss, but his attitude and behavior off the mat and immediately after the match were exceptional and I'm very proud of the way he handled it!

I'm a little partial But I'd definitely have to agree that Rhett Flood losing in the first round was a big upset. Should've been him and Faussett in finals easily. That's what happens when you overlook people..

I think this post topic is wrong because if a kid who everyone expected to do well fell short of that expectation is probably already feeling bad about not reaching the expectations they had or others had for them. Then to read about others talking about them as the biggest upset at state is not going to help them mentally as a wrestler.

ummm...one of the weirdest matches prolly of the whole tournament that i saw was 14U 105# when Kendric Maple of hard knox was winng over bradley Augustine 14-0 and defently going for another state championship if he would have one but this Bradley kid puts a cradle on him in the 3rd period and pins him...they say that it cant be done in situations like that but i guess anything is possible
