What I would love are Utah's rules. From what I understand, schools can enter EVERYONE in their postseason tournaments. In other words, you can enter your JV kids, they can score points and they can move on. I guess that a few years ago some school out there swept first through fourth place at one weight at State. Now THAT would be something for the Western bloc to argue about, wouldn't it?

Finally, an acknowledgement that Mt Sinai is NOT in IOWA.

you'll never get the 321A guys out of Hays, going to wichita would be too far for the state tournament for us 321A schools, when we can go to centralized Hays KS USA. Besides FHSU's Gross Memorial Coliseum is perfect and a very well run tournament. Why do all classes need to be held in the kansas coliseum? Hays is great and the 321A, 4A, 5A, and 6A classes seems to be working now so why change something that's been working well for the past 20 or so years?

Hey, don't worry; no one's going to take away Hays. We're just having a little fun with things.

Hays i would not say is in central kansas

Salina is in central kansas and i think that the Bicentennial center would be a great place for 1234a leave 5a and 6a down in wichita.

Silver lake is in 123a and they have to drive half way across the state to wrestle.

Goodland is about as far west as you can get and they drive to wichita every year.

A few revisions:
1.) Since it consensus appears to be for a 48/64/rest split...I moved the bottom four schools to Class C above(welcome Goodland to Hays).

2.) LancerM...here is the link of where I pulled the schools "numbers" from:
http://www.kshsaa.org/class.html

3.) I believe that this three class system "reinforces" the arguement to keep Class C in Hays. Take a look at where the schools are from. It also "reinforces" the arguement to keep the larger two classes in Wichita; but gives KSHSAA the ability to put four mats down per class.

4.) I still like the two-day qualifiers system (my opinion, though I would have rather been at a wrestling tournament than in school).

5.) This three class format allows for a manageable Dual State tournament in Salina the week after the traditional state tournament.

6.) Mt Sinai may not be in Iowa but Mt. Gable is.

I really think this would be a great idea — although I like the one-day qualifiers with eight regionals (yes, that's an Iowa thing Fanatic) — but the important thing is the three classes while preserving sanctity of Sinai (aka Hays) and assuring us of a four-mat system.

By the by, Mt. Gable has some of the best fishing in the country (of course it's on the owner's private lake and he might not like it if you trespass — LOL)!

If you think Silver Lake has a drive, what about Effingham?

Ok on the girl counting and such...how about this instead....

Report the total # out on each team...teams with the top 64 highest preseason wrestling rosters be put into a classification or so on...just get it done and give a safety barrier on growth or dropping should you add more or lose some say 3 either way.

Why not rotate locations so 456A can get a shot at Hays. Its sad that lots of upper classification wrestlers will be robbed of a truely great experience the Hays tournament apparently gives. Lets share the wealth my 321A brothers....

You might as well ask for the sun to rise in the west.

BigRedCoach-

Yes, how dare we have high school kids qualify for state. What a terrible injustice it is that we allow half of the wrestlers to qualify.

I like the idea that was proposed, but your 6 team regionals idea is not wise. If we went by this, the JC regional 171 bracket would have excluded two of the following: Matt Wintz, Jason Butler, David Ehret, or Grant Parker from qualifying for state. That's would exclude some of the following: two state championships, two 2nd place finishes, at least two other medals, or one witty fool. Not wise.

If you want three classifications combine 5A and 6A. They still would have about the same as 4A and less than 3-1A. I think rotating 3A and 4A between Hays and Salina would be Great.

Thanks Fanatic! Combining 5A and 6A would be my first choice as well, but with as few wrestling schools as there are, the 48/64 plan would be more representative, don't you think?

And sorry Prant, but medals beats wit. And that is indeed tragic...
