I think the Ngo's from Con were pretty good, also Wag did you know the only reason Brain didn't win it in 97 was becuase of a shady "illegal slam" and the kid didn't get up. I felt bad for him but its good he won it the next year. I gotta throw these names in though: How about Nathan & Josh Lawrenz of Herington, both Two Time State Champions and incredibly tough. I remember Nathan very well becuase my freshman year he pinned me in like 40 seconds with a cradle!! and Josh then as my revenge I beat Josh twice our senior year. I know that Nathan went to to Northern Iowa and was reallly sucessfull (4X qualifier). Josh is also wrestling for UNI.

Just for fun I was snoping around and found this, it is unbeliveable! Two brothers from Michigan Andy and Nick Simmons. Nick Finished High School 211-0 4X State Champion 208 Falls (tech or pin) 193 pins. 10 other National Records! And 3X Junior Natinal Champ. Now that is impressive but his brother is even better! Andy finished high school 219-0 which is the national records for wins. And holds everyother national record as far as pins and wins are concerned surpassing even his brother. you can read about this for yourself here:

http://msuspartans.ocsn.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/simmons_nick00.html for nick

Oh my god these are impressive stats. It sure makes Bo Maynes look like a JV wrestler, no disrespect cuase Bo was awsome too. I could have only wished to be half as good as one of these guys!

Nigel,

The Simmon's boys both learned how to choke a wrestler out from about five different holds. I hate to see dirty wrestling elevated to greatness. The Big Ten matches with Nick were stopped 2 or 3 times per period because he still wrestles that way.

they may have choked some people out, but the records dont lie. 219-0 and 211-0 is probably considered greatness in a lot of people's books. The wins and pins record is ridicious. I wish i was a third as good as they were.

Im sorry Mr. Johnston, I have never actually seen either of these two boys wrestle so I don't know if they cheat or anything like that. As I said I was just looking around at the rosters of NCAA qualifiers and I came across this stuff and I was totally blow away by their dominance. I hope I will get to see Nick wrestle at the NCAA's regardless of his style of wrestling. And techincally as long as a move is legal then if a person gets chocked out that is thier fault. I reference a knee in the side cradle which when done correctly can cuase a person to pass out, beleive me I've seen it done. Im not advocating this type of wrestling but it is legal.

The Medina brothers from Bishop Meige. Gonz and Mike were very tough when they were around during the 60s or 70s not sure. I think they won close to 3 or 4 championship (someone back me up on this). THey were very successful in college too.

J.J. and Justin Thaw were not twins, but J.J. placed 2nd twice and 1st once, Justin placed 3rd once and 1st twice. Justin was also a high school national champ.

The Metzler's Mike(dad) 2x champ, Caleb 3rd twice, Luke 3x champ, Seth 2nd and still going.

What about Braungardt's of Douglass? Jamie was a 1x champ, multi-X placer, and brother Jeremy was pretty good too. Or the Patton's from Chapman, Joe & Josh?
As far as anywhere, you can't forget the Sanderson's (Iowa State), or the Smith's (Oklahoma State).

Hey now pin 2 win, we aren't that old yet! There's some great brother tandems out there. I think Mike and I probably had the most different style as brother combos. I'm really getting excited about KS wrestling right now. We've got a great group going to the Div. I NCAA's this year. Bo, Zach, Jacob, Scott, Joe, Josh, and Shawn. Good luck to you all. It's a tough rode. My brothers Mike and Emory came to support me in the "Super Bowl" of wrestling. I can only hope we can get a ton of fans to support our stars in this year's Super Bowl!!

Thanks,
Gonz

I've had the opportunity to coach several brother combinations over the last 28 years. A few of good ones were the Bontz brothers Lyndon, Martin and Gary, from KMC and Andover; Hershbergers, Kendall and Eric from KMC; the Drakes, Chris, Todd and Chad; the Woolfs, Tom, Matt and David; the Hulls, Marc and David all from Andover; and Saferites, Jeff and Chris in Augusta. And if you are as "OLD" as Westfahl, you might remember us Alley boys in the 60's and 70's.

You've been Coaching how long?

The schippers twins are pretty good and does anyone remember the Jones brothers from hoxie. Derek and Kyle both won state in the same year.
