Actually the Neandrathal Man thing fits pretty good. I'm so old that I wrestled Pre-Grand State (1971-1973), so I feel Pre-Neadratholigic quit often.

Neandrathal Man

The State of Kansas did try to bring back a form of Grand State. It was called the Sunflower Classic. I wrestled in the Sunflower Classic in 1981 & 1982. In 1981 it was held in Wichita at Centrury II and in 1982 at Hutchinson. I really do not know how it was sponsored but I do know that the athletes that showed up had some great matches.
The problem was that not all of the top four from each class went to this Sunflower Classic.

Does anyone remember the Sunflower Classics. And could expand more on it ?
