I would presently have to go with Drennan until some one proves they can beat him.

Mark Dugan is the best at 140 and Nolan Cisper rates right there also. Nobody has come close to either one of them (except when they wrestled each other.)

I have not seen Dugan but I have seen Cisper. Cisper is a good wrestler but he does not even come close to either Drennan or Pyle. No where close!!!!

I watched all of these guys wrestle this year. I would have said Pyle was the best but until he wrestles Drennan again I can't pick him. Duggan and Crisper are tough kids but my pick is Johnson(sorry MiniFan). Johnson is the best of the group on his feet, and he can escape from the bottom. He doesn't score many points from the top position, so he doesn't score as many points as some of the other guys but he never gets out of position; threfore, he doesn't give up many points. He put on a takedown clinic at state against some good wrestlers. One match at state was close in the third period until his coach/dad got his attention!!!! Johnson scored two quick takedowns to win 8-2. I will admit, state was the only time I've ever seen Johnson wrestle, but based on that weekend I think he is the best of the group. We will never know until they all wrestle!!!!

Dugan is the best I've seen on his feet. He works well from the top position and was never down long enough to know how good he is on bottom. He normally pinned his opponent early in the first period and Cisper was one of the few matches that went all 3 periods. I have to stick with him for the best at 140.

to be the best you have to beat the best!!!! Before state everyone was saying how Pyle was unstoppable and "in a league of his own", the best 140# in the state, definate 4x state champ, well Drennan beat the best so i would have to say he deserves to be called the best.

I honestly thought Pyle was the best, but Drennan did beat him, so I would have to say that Drennan is the best 140 pounder in the state. Pyle would have to come in 2nd. Dugan couldn't even hang with either one of them. Dugan did pin a lot of kids this year, but were any of them any good?

If i remember right Manfan didn't it take johnson double over time to finish off Jeremy Morris from beloit in one of there matchups. If you really wanted to see a takedown clinic you would've watched drennen all 4 times he wrestled morris. Drennen is unstopable!!!!!!

It is interesting to read about what people think about who is the best. In my opinion, the wrestlers in the 140 lb. class are no different than any other weight class, for the most part. You can take any given match between two competitive guys and one guy will win one match and the other will win the next. All of these wrestlers are capabale of beating one another on any given day, they are that close. I think that there is a lot of weight given to the state champions, and deservingly so, but, if you stop to think about it, it is just another tournament. Many of you would have to agree that some of the wrestlers had tougher tournaments than state. This is supposed to be where the best wrestlers end up at the end of the year, but that is not the way it always works out. Some regionals are much tougher than others. Take Duke in the NCAA basketball tournament, this team is by far a number one or at least in the top five in the USA but got beat out. Wrestling is the same way. Sometimes kids win one week and loose another. Travis Martin beat Nick Johnson three straight times, but lost the last time. If they were to wrestle another time he might win. Thats what happens when you are competive. Another good example of that is also with Martin, this year when he beat Bahe from Goodland. He had never won and I think lost four straight times. I know this is long winded but my point is that when we try to guess who is the best at this and that it probably will change very soon. Thanks.

In seeing Drennan and Pyle's semi match, I don't think anyone, any class, would be able to hang with them except for johnson. But untill proven otherwise, I think Drennan is the best at 140.
