This is most definitely one of the finest run tournaments I have experienced. The entire Eudora crew deserves a big high five for their work!

I do not anticipate anymore coverage from the Kansas City Star this morning on this tournament and other local high school wrestling tournaments held this weekend. It appears to me that our best high school wrestling coverage is to be found right here on this forum.

Richard, thank you, Mr. Kramer and the rest of our state's roving freelance reports for all the hard work you do in providing the Kansas wrestling community with so much of this high school wrestling reporting and coverage. Great job to all of you!

Last year at this tournament they had a huge newspaper article, there were 2 big blown up pictures, and they had the scores in the back, so I am very dissapointed in the Lawrence Journal World's coverage in the sport of wrestling so far this year.

I wouldn't exactly call this a "Tournament of Champions." Newton, yes, this, no.

well technically i guess it's a tournament of champions, in that if you win it then you're the champion. so as long as they have more than one weight class, then they can be considered the tournament of champions, along with the osborne and halsted tournaments.

Spartanmom,

The tournament bulletin did list several open (think 6) spots for Aquinas. This however, was an error in the bulletin. The slots were filled at the tourney, just not with the wrestlers Aquinas would normally fill them with. Not sure if all 6 were filled, but I can count 4 slots listed as open that were filled.

As for the reason why some of the varsity was not there, I heard several unofficial rumors. I don’t want to speculate.

Missing 6 varsity wrestlers and taking 7th out of 25 teams is not bad. Aquinas has a solid dept chart. Entire squad looked good, wrestling with solid fundamentals.

Hands off to Lansing that entered the tournament with one weight open (sick), one weight open (Hvy), and three state qualifiers /medalist not in the lineup taking first. All should be back in January.

Blue Valley looked very impressive through all weight classes. (Appears the Madl twins have taken the mantel from the Baker twins now at CMSU).
