reply - ol AC dog, when you're feelin' better roll off the couch you got on your front porch and call some of them Okie coaches. Put together a KS-OK shoot out for the senior boys. Let's see if you're any better off in your part of KS.

Stench, your a crafty fellow aren't you - you've managed to dodge the topic here - I asked if you could put on a coaching clinic for us coaches - that is if you willing to help out the struggeling KS boys. One more thing - if the stab relating front porch couches and southern KS is taken in a negative sense - I would definitely keep yourself unknown, one more thing, my front porch couch welcomes you anytime...which is up here in KC, so you won't have to travel far!

Ol'ACDC dog I had a dog like you once but we can't go into that here. This is a metro classic thread. We need to stick together and make sure KS boys are prepared to face MO and their hooligan crowd. I'm sick and tired of walkin' out of there with my tail between my legs. Win or lose we're proud of you, sure because you're our boys. But, who's really responsible for the whippin' our boys have been takin' at the Metro Classic if not their hs coaches? We get different kids every year but the same result. It's the coaches that remain constant and they aren't workin smart and hard enough to beat those MO hs coaches. Hurla, I'll tell you what. You're a salty one to stand up to me and you have the chance to prove me wrong. If you beat Graham or your team comes within 10 points of Mo then March 8 will be my farewell post. Until then someone has to be the voice of reason.

stench, do we really need to bring up your past relationships on this talk forum? stick together, let me see - when have you played any part in guiding these kids to a successful career in wrestling? sure you make some good points/suggestions but anyone can read Gable's books and relay those suggestions to a talk forum. As far as I'm concerned all you do is belittle these guys - Hurla, good luck next week (I know Calder has prepared you well, as it showed last weekend, congrats) and for the rest of you KS boys, Good Luck!

If it ain't the coaching that keeps them KS boys losing, then what is it Ol' ACDC Dog? I guess you're one of them coaches responsible for this mess we got and you got a mad on over it. don't be mad at me for tellin' you like it is. It ain't my fault that Erneste, Mayabb, Hagerty, Glasgow and company are better coaches than we got over here. I hope our boys got the fight in em to make me a liar on Mar 7. All they got is fight cuz lord knows most of them don't know how to set-up and finish a shot. I've watched a lot of these Ks boys get in trouble with junk moves they learned somewhere. Boys, you'll be on your back and kickin' like junebugs quicker than a cat can lick his if you don't keep it basic. And, if they pull a MO ref they ain't gonna get by with a chop, knee up the butt, double wrist and hip ride for 2 minutes. No sir, fight is all them KS boys got to fall back on right now.

I believe the topic is regarding the Metro Classic and the wrestler's in the Kansas City Metropolitan area and not all of "Kansas kids" .

Providing the agreed upon range has not changed, the range on the metro area is eliptical with Kansas being given 75 miles from the center to Kansas City and Missouri being given 50 miles.

The Kansas team which you noted has:

112 lbs. - Altman - Derby
119 lbs. - Bahe - Goodland
125 lbs. - Elliott - Wichita
130 lbs. - Deshazer - Wichita
135 lbs. - Baldridge - Wichita
140 lbs. - Adcock - Wichita
145 lbs. - Cornejo - Wichita
152 lbs. - Grater - Clay Center
171 lbs. - Sutton-Kearn - Concordia
215 lbs. - Jacob Marrs - Clay Center

Ten of the fourteen (71 %) wrestlers who participated on the Kansas team were not from the Metro area.

Right the topic is primarly concerned about the Metro, but Gut was saying that KS sucks and that MO is great. I think Smokey brought up a good and relevant post. Sometimes posts veer a bit from the orginal. But, Smokey's was definitely on-topic and revelant. KS is as good as MO. It is just that the Metro boundaries handicap KS more than they handicap MO. MO is loaded with good teams in the KC area. KS is not. But, if the boundaries are expanded to include the entire state - then KS does just fine (as proved by Smokey's post). Thanks for the post Smokey. I enjoyed it.

Richard brings up a good point in that this is basically a Kansas City metropolitan area competition. I believe Kansas was given more miles due to the population difference.

Smokeycabin's point seems to addresses more of gutwrench1's assessment which appears to be directed more at the whole state. I believe several people have pointed out that you cannot assess the strength of Missouri vs. Kansas based on this Metro Classic competition alone.

Missouri has had the best of Kansas in this competition over the last couple of years. I think what it really reflects is the strength of Kansas City Missouri wrestling right now. The Kansas City Missouri side is very dominant in Missouri. I believe schools from KCMO won 3 of the 4 titles in Missouri this year. They may have done it last year too. It is very similar to the overall dominance that the Wichita area has in Kansas right now.

Is a big reason some of these great KCMO coaches that gutwrench1 has mentioned? Sure. But they also have some very strong kids programs over there that have been in place and thriving over the last several years. This Competitors club is a national kid level club that has fed Oak Park and will keep it strong over the next several years. The participation in the Tony Purler academy is very strong from the Kansas City Missouri side too over the last several years. There is a very strong committment to wrestling in KCMO. I believe on the Kansas side of KCMO that our committment seems to be stronger towards football. These things have contributed to this recent KCMO dominance over Kansas too. This tide did not just turn overnight in the Kansas City metro area. And it will not turn back overnight either.

All that being said, I think Kansas side of the Metro does have a good chance to win this year and I think even gutwrench1 said that in an earlier post.

Gents, let's not muddy up the water. This is a Metro Classic thread. Smokey Cabin is part of the KC Metro coaches and he's tryin to reach out for help from the rest of the state. Don't throw him a lifeline. Right now, we're talking about the whippin them KC MO boys hve been puttin on KS/KC Metro boys and what can be done about it.

In the last three Metro Classics KC Missouri has outscored KC Kansas 124 to 44! That's 3 years of a good ol' fashion butt whippin. And I think there's gonna be more of it next week. You liars go on and justify that with a junior dual/cadet freestyle or greco monkey wrestlin result. Or blame it on kids wrestlin or Purler who's just been here a year or two. Anything but the hs folkstyle coaching and hs competition they're getting. Here are the results I'd like to think someone is responsible for.

Well obviously you are not Tony Purler. Tony started his academy approximately in January 2003, so he has been in operation in Kansas City for over three years. I wasn't saying that he is directly responsible for the last three years of the Metro results for Missouri. I was just making the point that there is a strong committment basis on the KCMO side of state line both at the parent and kid level to do the extra things to excel at wrestling at a very high level. I was using the Competitors club and the participation in Tony's academy as evidence of that committment level.

Are you for Kansas Gutwrench or for Missouri. DO you coach, are you trying to make a difference in Kansas wrestling. And the comments about St. Thomas Aquinas & Turner. Last year if memory serves me right, Turner won both there matches. You posted the previous years results but not last year. And as for the coaches I think we have a lot of talented coaches in this area. It is up to the kids to use what the coaches are trying to teach. Go Team Kansas.

Ok, this one is for all the guys wrestling for Kansas in the dual. Last year we had a good line up and we trained hard, but we were just out mathced. I've been wrestling in Missouri for the past year with mostly guys from Missouri and they don't give us Kansas wrestlers any credit. I'll be there watching and I'd love to come back to CMSU after spring break with a Kansas win in the metro.

My wise room mate is correct. I am also tired of hearing these missouri kids always telling us how great they are. And the only come back I have for them is, "at least we have good roads."

It don't think the superior roads matter to Caleb since Partyboysteve drives 5 mph under all posted speed limits in town and 10 mph below on the interstate ..... or so I've heard

It's good to know gutstench antagonizes the people on the missouri board as much as he does us.

gutwrench1 if you look at the Kansas Team this year we are very experienced. Neil Erisman,Stewert,Strawn,Livingood, and myself. I might not be the best HWT in the state but am a bitch to beat. Kansas will turn this around and win the Metro tonight.
