Anthony Livengood was in a tussle. His match was tied at 6 as the third period started. He loses late in the match, 10-12.

Alex Thomas was tied at one entering the 3rd. But Alex earned the victory!

Joe Payne was scoreless entering the 3rd. He scored an escape with 30 seconds to go in the bout. And, with a takedown at the whistle scored a 3-0 victory!

We're ready for the finals ... finally!

At 103-pounds we have freshman, Trent Cox and also senior Nash Burtin.

Cox takes the early lead 2-0. It's 2-1 in the second and Trent gives a reversal and back points and is trailing 2-6. In the 3rd, Adamson opened up the offense and won going away, 2-14.


Burtin is down early 0-2. He continues to trail 3-6 as the 3rd gets underway. Burtin is down 6-12 in the 3rd and loses the bout 6-14.

Of course Burtin was at 112.

At 112 we have KC Turner and resident Steve wrestling. Paulie Hansen is wrestling a foe from Pennsylvania. The first period is scoreless and Hansen is on top to start the 2nd. Paulie's throwing in the legs and grinding but is reversed to his back and pinned in the cradle.

Hansen shows a lot of maturity and sportsmanship ... he is the runner-up in the Brute Nationals.

This will be tough but I'll try. We have Tyler Caldwell representing the freshman, Brett Bahe is in the junior division, both at 119. At the same time we have James Fox, our senior 125 pounder.

Caldwell is scoreless in the first. Caldwell is rides for 2 minutes and gains the quick reversal as the 3rd starts. And just as quick the bout is over with a pin fall. Caldwell wins.

Bahe is scoreless in the first. Bahe gives up the escape. The bout ends 0-1.

Fox trails early. He loses the bout, 2-11.

At 125 ... Aaron Ely jumps all over his foe. He gains the takedown and is working the cheap tilt. Suddenly, the ref slaps the mat and the opponent is awarded the defense pin.

... I'm flabbergasted and taken back a bit ...

... it's taking me a while to regain my bearings after Ely's match ...

In the Senior division at 130 it is Tait Weatherbee representing the Kansans. Tait takes the lead with an escape in the second. The Iowan gains an escape of his own to tie the score. It is the Hawkeye with the takedown with 40 seconds to go. Tait scores the reversal with 5 seconds to go. We go overtime ... the Kansas faithful are cheering but to no avail Weatherbee loses on the takedown.
