I thought for the most part the tournament was great. Of course the competition was outstanding. While the ticket price was a little high ($30 for a tournament pass, even for grade schoolers!), the seating was adequate and we could bring anything in. Coolers, bags, etc. We also patronized the concessions, which were reasonably priced. The web access was great, and appreciated by many across the state!
One suggestion I would make is, if they use the bullpen format again, to call an entire bracket to a mat. There were so many mats and there was such a delay between the wrestlers being called to a mat and actually wrestling. If you heard a match called that you were interested in watching, and you didn't have the motivation of it being your own wrestler, it was next to impossible to remember by the time it came up where it was, as usually you'd heard several more come up in the meantime. It was also difficult to follow a bracket for the results, or to see a particular wrestler in your bracket that you weren't familiar with. I just thought calling an entire bracket runthrough to a mat would be helpful in that regard. It would be nice to see the senior brackets grow next year, maybe word didn't get out in time for people to plan for it, or decide between Brute and Senior Nationals if they didn't want to do both. It would seem to be a good option for talented seniors who, for whatever reason, choose not to go to senior nationals.
I want to be sure to mention that the UNO wrestlers who worked the tables, etc. were just great! They were knowledgable, enthusiastic, very pleasant and seemed genuinely concerned that people had a good experience. Good job, guys!
