EDMDOND (May 23) – Long-time wrestling powerhouse Central Oklahoma has added two more recruits to its impressive list with the signing of Kansas high school standout Jarrett Edison and junior college transfer Paul Mayfield.

Edison, a projected 197-pounder for the Bronchos, was a state champion at 215 pounds last year at Northwest Wichita High School after earning runner-up honors in 2005. A two-time league and regional champion, he finished with a 146-18 career record and was the Outstanding Wrestler after winning the Brute/Adidas national championship.

Mayfield, a product of Ardmore High School, won the 149-pound junior college national title as a sophomore at Neosho (Kan.) County Community College this season. He was a two-time state placer at Ardmore, winning the state title as a senior.

“Jarrett and Paul are both excellent wrestlers who have a chance to come in and help us right away,” UCO coach David James said. “They’ve experienced a lot of success and are great athletes eager to come in here and make a difference.”

The 14-time national champion Bronchos, who finished fourth in the NCAA Division II national tournament this season, signed three Oklahoma products earlier – two-time state champion Tyler Zukerman of Lawton MacArthur, state champion and two-time junior college All-American Luke Elmore of Stillwater and Labette (Kan.) Community College and All-Stater Corby Ray of Sapulpa.
