Former Miege wrestler, Eric Menesses passes away 5/18 in an auto accident. Eric was a great person and competitor. He will be sorely missed.
Eric A. Meneses, 24, of Kansas City, MO, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the Redemptorist Father's Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Monday, at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., followed by a time for sharing of memories. The family suggests contributions to the Bishop Miege High School Scholarship Fund. Eric was born March 15, 1978 in Kansas City, MO, to Manuel and Clara (Martinez) Meneses. Eric was an athlete at Bishop Miege High School, where he played football and went to the State Finals in wrestling. He was an Altar boy at St. Agnes Church, a Cub Scout and Boy Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. He attended Eastern New Mexico University and Central Missouri State University, where he also wrestled. Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather. He is survived by his mother, Clara, brother, Chris and sister, Lisa, all of the home; his father, Manuel of Kansas City, MO; his maternal grandmother, Prima Reyes of the home; his paternal grandparents, Virginia and John Meneses of Kansas City, MO; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
