There are 4 votes for "others" in this poll. What clubs would they be? How many qualifiers do they have for districts? Bump!

There is no club state champion, basically because there are huge clubs and small clubs, and they aren't equally represented. However someone after the tourny alwaqys figures up the score.

I don't know if there is an award or not, but they keep track of it and post it on the State Champ link to the left.

We will have a tough time winning the team points title. We have only 3 high school kids wrestling with us, as the rest, Fishers, Peter Eck, Schroeder, Stroot, etc. have moved right into freestyle greco. I believe TOHK and Maize have many more HS kids to get points from. We have an outside shot if we wrestle well, starting at districts this weekend.

I only mention TOHK and Maize as they are from our district. I have no idea what Derby or any of the other clubs have, just mentioning a couple clubs that have been near the top of the points title the last few years.
Salina or Colby would be another good bet IMO

Nigel, isn't that the same case for high school, the idea of some clubs having more then others. Some high schools have big teams some have small ones. So should there not be a high school state champion.

In a manner of speaking curtis, yes! However we are talking about the difference between 14 weight classes in high school and 104 in kids wrestling. Also every team in high school is allowed to qualify 1 wrestler per weight into state. Whereas technically a club team could qualify up to 4 kids per weight into state. As you can see the sheer numbers of kids wrestlers waters down any attempt at a team title.

I know Nigel, I'm just being a smart butt. I really don't see how they could determine a club champion either.

As much as anyone wants to play it down, the teams with a shot at it think it is very important. I would venture to guess that teams that don't have a chance are the ones downplaying it. The club championship should be a recognized award, IMO, and is a tremendous help in motivating our kids to become "team players", in an individual sport.

Curtis you and Nigel make a good points. What would you think about a club champioinship wherein the clubs were divided into small, medium and large classes based on the number of USA cards assigned to the club and then awarding championships in each division?

That would be a very good idea. Only one bracket, but divided into the three groups. That really is a good idea.

I agree with the 747. It's great motivation to get the kids to start thinking about the team. Slyter's getting them all pumped up together and their efforts will be recognized at our banquet. Look for Paola to be in the mix, I think we are taking 28. 13 District I champions!

Barry Disney, that is an excellent idea!!!!!!!!!
It would be great to divide into three or four classes based on a each clubs enrollment numbers.
I know you are a man of action, so you should take a proposal to next years state meeing. I am sure you would recieve a lot of support for such an idea.
