I understand and respect the decission of those who wanted to go to Nebraska. If my son was faced with the same choice I'm certain he would want to go to the Nebraska Nationals. Thankfully we wern't forced to make a decission THIS year. I would only hope next year schedualing will be differant. Without doubt this year Kansas Kids State will miss some quality wrestling at our tournament. To late and to early now but food for thought at the next State Body meeting. I will not debate the benefits of FS/GR but they are many.

There are other USA Nationally sanctioned events going on during subdistricts and districts. The Girls USA Folkstyle Nationals was last week. There is also USA National Middle School Duals and so on... If you start allowing walk-ons then where are you going to draw the line? What tournaments will you allow wrestlers to be excused to go to and which ones will they not be excused for. I would like the high school kids to be able to wrestle at state as much as anyone but how do you do this? We are never going to be able to have a 3 week period where there isn't a conflict somewhere.

As I stated in an earlier post.

If there were not so many spots that could be wrestled at Districts maybe it would not be an issue.

However we have many brackets in the 14 and 16 year old divisions that will not have a full eight man bracket.

In fact there will be many brackets that will have 3 or less wrestlers.
