Team Kansas put on a determined showing at the 2025 16U National Duals, navigating through a challenging Greco-Roman bracket to secure 10th place. The squad faced fierce competition from top teams across the country, demonstrating both skill and resilience throughout the tournament.
Kansas kicked off the event in Pool D, delivering an impressive 51-23 victory over Georgia. However, a tough 42-31 loss to Illinois pushed them into the backside of the pool bracket. They rebounded with a dominant 50-24 win over Arizona Red, setting up a battle for third place in the pool. Despite their best efforts, Kansas fell 48-27 to Oklahoma Outlaws Blue, finishing fourth in the pool and moving into the Bronze/Copper placement bracket.
Once in placement competition, Kansas found their rhythm, securing a hard-fought 39-35 victory over Virginia before overpowering Texas with a 49-26 win. They closed out pool play in commanding fashion, defeating New Jersey 40-32, setting up a showdown against Team Iowa for a 9th/10th place battle. The dual proved to be one of the most exciting of the tournament, with both teams trading blows down the lineup in a thrilling, closely contested match. In the end, Iowa edged out a narrow 41-36 victory, leaving Kansas with a very respectable 10th-place finish.
Murphy Randolph, Emerson Tjaden, and Max Harris stood out by going undefeated and earning All-American honors, leading the way for Kansas’ strong showing. Coaches praised the team’s grit and perseverance, noting that the experience at the National Duals will serve as invaluable preparation for future competitions.
With both Greco-Roman (10th place) and Freestyle (16th place) finishes, Kansas proved they belong among the nation’s best. The team will look to build on this performance, continuing to sharpen their skills and push toward even greater success.
