I just wanted some thoughts from some of those who have seen both teams. Thoughts on who might win that showdown?

ponderosa is awesome at 171 and really strong from 189 to 215, but I believe that Hoxie could really make it a close deal . Gilliland, Schippers bros. Farber, and the shuemberger ( Probably misspelled) brothers are very good and Ponderosa is not overpowereing at those weights. If Hoxie wins those matches, and the Cambell match at 160, THen the animals at the heavier weights can pin, pin pin and the team still gets beat. Key matches are Gilliand at 125, shippers at 140, cambell at 160, and the heavyweight match. Keep in mind that Ponderosa was not unbeatable in most weights, just good. Hoxie is the same way. when you look at the victory margin at Garden city tournament, and the way Hoxie beat Garden city in the Colby dual tournament, You have to think that Ponderosa would not just walk away with a dual with Hoxie. Then think about the fact that Ponderosa has about a thousand male students to draw their 14 guys from, and Hoxie has maybe 70 male students, the question of which coach has done the best job with what he has had to work with needs not even be asked.

It would be close and a serious brawl. I would not even want to try to pick the winner. But lets set up a dual and sell tickets. Easy money maker.

I haven’t had the pleasure to see Hoxie wrestle this year but I have talked people who have had the opportunity to wrestle them. From what I have been told they are awesome and quite possibly the best team the state has ever seen. I have followed their season and the scores I have seen really indicate how good they are. I have seen Ponderosa and I can tell you that they are very very overrated! Their strength is very evident at 125 and 171, but beyond that they are just a good team. By no means are they are they anything near great. Yes, they did win the Garden City tournament by a substantial margin, but I felt like the tournament was handed to them somewhat. Garden City pre-seeds the tournament and Ponderosa received some very high seeds that I felt they were not worthy of. If Garden City’s team had been at full strength and the seeding had been a little more realistic, Garden City could have won their own tournament. Even though I haven't seen Hoxie I would put my money them vs. Ponderosa.
